Everest Base Camp trek cost from Uzbekistan: trek prices in dollars and soum, Tashkent to Kathmandu fares, visa on arrival, halal food and how to pay.

Last updated 11 October 2026.

Short answer: From Uzbekistan, the Everest Base Camp trek costs USD 1,399 (Budget), USD 2,499 (Standard) or USD 4,999 (Luxury) per person for the 12 days on our Everest Base Camp Trek, 12 days page, which is about UZS 16.6 million, 29.7 million or 59.5 million at the Central Bank of Uzbekistan rate of 10 October 2026 (1 USD = 11,897.90 UZS). Add a Tashkent to Kathmandu return, which I found from USD 680 to USD 995 for 10 to 28 April 2027, and a USD 50 visa on arrival. A single traveller on Budget should plan about USD 2,360 to 2,480 before insurance, hotels in Kathmandu and tips, which is about UZS 28 to 29.5 million.

I am Shreejan. Travellers from Uzbekistan ask me the same things: how do I get there when there is no direct flight, how do I pay when the soum is not accepted, and what do I eat. This page answers them. The trek price I can give you to the dollar. The flight is a snapshot of one day, and the soum figures move with the exchange rate.

The Budget total includes eleven days of trail meals at the range on our page. Kathmandu hotel nights are not in any trek price, and I quote them separately. The price covers the licensed guide, permits, the flight to Lukla and the lodges; the trip page lists everything. A group of 5 to 8 pays less per person, and a solo trekker pays the 1 to 4 price. The Standard tier has one porter for every two trekkers, and a solo Standard trekker has no porter, because the guide carries up to 10 kg. An extra porter is USD 25 a day plus 13 per cent VAT and the 3.5 per cent bank charge. The exchange rates: 1 USD = 11,897.90 UZS and 1 EUR = 13,336.36 UZS, from the Central Bank of Uzbekistan on 10 October 2026. The European Central Bank does not publish a soum reference rate, so I used the national bank.

Is there a direct flight from Tashkent to Kathmandu?

None appeared. I searched on 11 October 2026 for economy, one adult, leaving Tashkent on 10 April 2027 and returning on 28 April, and every itinerary had at least one change of plane. The usual route is Tashkent to Delhi on Uzbekistan Airways, then Delhi to Kathmandu on Air India or Nepal Airlines. Another goes through Sharjah on Air Arabia. The fares were quoted by Kiwi.com for the whole return ticket.

FareRoute and timesNotes
USD 680Out: Uzbekistan Airways to Delhi 08:45, Air India to Kathmandu 21:00, landing 22:55. Home: SriLankan via Colombo and Delhi, landing 16:10 the next dayCheapest, but the return takes about 27 hours
USD 727Same outbound. Home: Air India 21:40 to Delhi, a night in Delhi, Uzbekistan Airways at 13:45An overnight wait in Delhi on the way home
USD 750Same outbound. Home: Air India 06:30, Uzbekistan Airways from Delhi 13:45, landing 16:10 the same dayThe sensible one: about 10 hours 25 minutes home
USD 850Earlier Air India connection out, landing 20:40, and the 07:35 flight homeThe quickest of the fares
USD 995Out: Air Arabia via Sharjah, 03:25, landing 13:50. Home: Air India 06:30 with Uzbekistan AirwaysArrives in the afternoon

All of these fares came with a cabin bag only and no checked bag, so add the price of a checked bag, and your trek duffel will need one. For a November window, 5 to 25 November 2026, the same search gave USD 956 to USD 1,114, because the autumn season is dearer. The Delhi connection is an Indian airport. Ask your airline whether your ticket and your passport need an Indian transit visa for the change; that depends on how the tickets are issued and how long you wait, and I cannot answer it for you. Tashkent is 45 minutes behind Kathmandu all year.

Do Uzbek citizens need a visa for Nepal?

You get one when you land, so you do not need to visit an embassy. Uzbekistan is not on the list of twelve nationalities that cannot get a visa on arrival, which I set out in my visa on arrival guide. The fees are USD 30 for 15 days, USD 50 for 30 days and USD 125 for 90 days. For Everest Base Camp take the 30-day visa. Bring the cash in US dollars, a passport valid for at least six months, a passport photo, and fill in the online arrival form before you land. If you want to be certain, check the Nepal Department of Immigration page for your nationality a few weeks before you fly.

How do you pay us from Uzbekistan?

You pay in US dollars or euros, cash or card. We do not take Nepali rupees or soum from foreign clients. The deposit is 10 per cent. The balance is paid when you arrive in Kathmandu, and card carries a 3.5 per cent charge while cash in Kathmandu carries none. I cannot promise that every Uzbekistan-issued bank card will go through our payment page. The safe route is to bring dollars in clean, new notes, and to check the cash rules at the Uzbek border before you fly. You will need Nepali rupees for small purchases on the trail, and you can change dollars in Kathmandu; see my currency guide and the notes on ATM limits for foreign cards.

What is the food like for Muslim travellers?

On the trail the menu is simple: dal bhat, noodles, fried rice, potatoes, eggs, soup and porridge, and it is easy to eat vegetarian. I cannot promise halal meat in the mountain villages. In Kathmandu there is more choice. Tell me about your diet and how you pray when you book, and I will plan the days around both where the trail allows. Ramadan in 2027 begins in early February, depending on the moon, so fasting falls well before the spring season. My guide to eating vegetarian on the trail shows what you will see on menus.

When should you go from Uzbekistan?

MonthNight low, Namche / Dingboche (C)On the trail
March-3.0 / -10.5Cold early, then warming. The spring season begins
April0.8 / -7.0Warm days and rhododendrons below Namche. Second busiest month
May3.7 / -3.5Warmest trekking month, hazier afternoons, rain building at Lukla
June to September5.9 to 7.8 / 0.3 to 2.9Monsoon. Not for Everest
October1.2 / -5.3The first dry month and the peak season. Very busy
November-3.8 / -11.0Almost no rain, colder nights, quieter by the month end
December to February-8.5 to -6.5 / -15.3 to -13.4Dry, very cold. Some high lodges shut

For a traveller from Uzbekistan I suggest April or the first half of November. Navruz on 21 March and Independence Day on 1 September are public holidays at home, so many people travel then; check flight prices for those dates. See my April 2027 guide and the full cost guide.

What do you need to know about the flight to Lukla?

In peak seasons the Lukla flights run from Manthali, about 4 to 5 hours from Kathmandu by road, so we collect you from your hotel between midnight and 2 am. It is tiring and I will tell you the exact time when you book. In the quiet months the flights leave from Kathmandu. Read my guide to Ramechhap and Lukla. Budget and Standard use a fixed-wing flight to Lukla, and Luxury a round-trip helicopter.

What permits do you need?

You need the Sagarmatha National Park permit (NPR 3,000), the Khumbu Pasang Lhamu Rural Municipality fee (NPR 3,000) and a TIMS card (NPR 2,000). All three are included in the price. It is a walking trip on a marked trail, not a restricted area. Read my altitude guide before you go, and buy travel insurance at home that covers trekking to 5,500 m and helicopter evacuation. We do not recommend insurance bought in Nepal.
