Everest Base Camp Trek Cost from Poland: Złoty Prices, Flights, Visa and Insurance

Złoty figures use the European Central Bank reference rate of 6 October 2026, EUR 1 = PLN 4.3650, which with US$1 = EUR 0.887 is about PLN 3.87 per dollar. The rate changes daily. We bill in dollars or euros, never in złoty.

Poland has no nonstop to Kathmandu in our fare check, and the cheapest return, PLN 4,923, is not an Air Arabia ticket. It is a flydubai outbound through Dubai, paired with Air Arabia home.

The 12-day Everest Base Camp trek costs, per person for groups of one to four, US$1,399 on Budget (about PLN 5,420), US$2,785 on Standard (about PLN 9,680) and US$4,999 on Luxury (about PLN 19,360), and 2027 is the same. Include a Warsaw return, the visa, insurance and tips and the door-to-door sum for one person lands near PLN 12,590 to PLN 16,600 (Budget), PLN 16,190 to PLN 19,760 (Standard, travelling solo) or PLN 26,340 to PLN 30,140 (Luxury).

Warsaw to Kathmandu on 7 October

The fares are for economy, one adult with one checked bag, outbound Sunday 25 October 2026, return Wednesday 11 November, on one ticket with at most one stop each way.

There were 15 itineraries from Warsaw Chopin (WAW), from PLN 4,923 to PLN 7,503, and every one needs a change of plane: in Dubai, Sharjah, Doha or Istanbul. Nothing is nonstop.

The lowest fare, PLN 4,923, pairs flydubai out with Air Arabia home. Warsaw 20:30, Dubai 05:40, then the 08:15 flight lands in Kathmandu at 14:00 on 26 October, about 12 hours 45 minutes in all. Coming back there are two Air Arabia choices at the same price: the 23:45 night departure through Sharjah reaches Warsaw at 10:55 on 12 November (about 15 hours 55 minutes), and the 09:25 morning one gets you in at 20:40 the same day. Air Arabia both ways, Warsaw 11:45 via Sharjah and into Kathmandu at 08:45 on the 26th, with Qatar Airways home through Doha, was PLN 5,189.

If you want one airline each way, flydubai both ways cost PLN 5,805: Kathmandu 09:20, Dubai 12:45, Warsaw 19:10 the same evening, about 14 hours 35 minutes coming back. Emirates out via Dubai with Air Arabia home was PLN 6,561. Turkish Airlines out through Istanbul (Warsaw 19:10, Kathmandu 11:20 next morning) came to PLN 6,937, and Air Arabia out with Turkish home was PLN 7,103. The dearest, PLN 7,503, put flydubai out with an evening Qatar flight home. All 15 include a checked bag, though some of the Emirates ones list no personal item. I priced Warsaw only, so travellers from Kraków, Katowice or Gdańsk should run their own airport.

The all-in budget in złoty

The table is for one traveller. Flights are shown as a range, from the cheapest to the dearest fare in the search. The next column totals the 30-day visa, insurance and tips, plus meals for Budget and spending money for Standard and Luxury. Kathmandu hotels sit outside every tier, but you can stay at our family homestay for US$15 per person a night, roughly PLN 58.

Meals only cost you extra on Budget. Count on US$25 to US$40 a day, which is US$300 to US$480 for the 12 days. Standard and Luxury have meals in the price, so for them the cash you carry is for hot showers, phone charging and snacks, around 20,000 to 30,000 rupees (US$130 to US$195). Collect the rupees in Kathmandu. On the last day, tip the guide US$15 to US$20 for each day of the trek, and each porter US$10 to US$15.

Visa for a Polish passport

Poland is not among the twelve countries whose citizens must apply for a Nepali visa before they travel, so you can pay at the airport in Kathmandu. A 15-day visa is US$30, 30 days is US$50 (about PLN 195) and 90 days is US$125. You pay in US dollars and all three are multiple-entry. Bring a passport with six months' validity and a photo. EKUZ, NFZ and private insurance

The Polish health fund NFZ says the EKUZ gives access to necessary care in EU states, the EFTA countries and the UK, that it does not replace travel insurance, and that anyone on a risky or sporting trip should consider extra commercial cover. Nepal is outside that area, so the card does nothing there.

A policy is only useful if it covers trekking to 6,000 metres (Kala Patthar is 5,545 m, while many holiday policies end somewhere between 3,000 and 4,000 m), pays for helicopter evacuation (US$3,000 to US$5,000, about PLN 11,600 to PLN 19,400, if you pay yourself) and covers illness as well as accidents. What the Polish foreign ministry says, and who helps in Nepal

The foreign ministry's traveller app, Odyseusz, carries the Nepal advice, last updated 26 August 2026, at warning level 2 (special caution). It says a visa is required and that an online form on the Nepali immigration site has to be filled in first, that the passport must be valid six months beyond entry with at least two blank pages, that trekkers need a trekking permit and a TIMS card from an authorised firm, and that large areas have no phone or internet. Its alert of 26 August concerns the Bhote Koshi flood in Rasuwa district. The app's 'Zgłoś podróż' function registers your trip.

Poland has no embassy in Kathmandu. The ambassador in New Delhi is also accredited to Nepal, and an honorary consul general sits in Kathmandu, in Lalitpur (+977 1 5526904, [email protected]). Odyseusz warns that direct consular help may be limited because there is no Polish mission in Nepal. The consul's duty phone at the embassy in New Delhi is +91 9910 999 477.

What each tier gives you

Same route, three ways to walk it. Budget: carry your own bag, share rooms, buy your meals, fly to Lukla on a fixed-wing plane. Standard: every meal paid, a private room, and one porter for each pair of trekkers. Luxury: a porter just for you, a deluxe private room with bathroom, fruit, nuts, unlimited soft drinks and helicopters to and from Lukla. All tiers carry a licensed guide, the permits (NPR 3,000, 3,000 and 2,000), airport transfers and a borrowed down jacket and minus 15 sleeping bag. If you are alone on Standard there is no porter and the guide carries up to 10 kg; there is never a single supplement. Kathmandu hotels are charged separately.

Rysy compared with Gorak Shep

Rysy, the highest peak in Poland, is 2,499 m on the Polish side. Gorak Shep, where trekkers sleep, is at 5,164 m, and Kala Patthar above it reaches 5,545 m. The Tatras are a good place to train legs for five to seven hours a day, but they cannot give you a night above 5,000 m. That is why the itinerary has two acclimatisation days and why we walk slowly. Prices by group size

The price per person is identical for a private booking and for a group. Headcount only shifts the band.

Leave, holidays and the clock change

Under Article 154 of the Labour Code, annual leave is 20 days if you have worked for less than ten years and 26 days from ten years; time spent in school counts towards the ten.

The public holidays near the trek are Sunday 1 November 2026 (All Saints) and Wednesday 11 November (Independence Day). In spring 2027 they are Easter Monday on 29 March, 1 May (a Saturday) and Monday 3 May (Constitution Day). Polish clocks go back on Sunday 25 October 2026: Nepal leads Warsaw by 3 hours 45 minutes before that date and by 4 hours 45 minutes after it. Two Nepali dates to avoid or plan around: Dashain, 17 to 23 October 2026, and Tihar, 8 to 12 November. Offices close, and permits are processed in 48 hours of government working days. At the busiest time of year the small Lukla planes depart from Manthali, a four to five hour drive from Kathmandu, with pick-up between midnight and 2 am; Luxury trekkers fly by helicopter from Kathmandu and skip that.

Polish names on Everest

Wanda Rutkiewicz reached the summit of Everest on 16 October 1978, the first Pole and the first European woman to do so. On 17 February 1980 Krzysztof Wielicki and Leszek Cichy made the first winter ascent of Everest, on an expedition led by Andrzej Zawada, which was also the first winter ascent of any eight-thousander. In 1987 Jerzy Kukuczka finished all fourteen eight-thousanders, the second person after Reinhold Messner. A Base Camp trek is a different undertaking from any of that, but October, the month of Rutkiewicz's summit, is also the most settled month for trekking.

Paying from Poland

Here is the money side in plain order. First, 10 per cent when you book, which secures the dates. Second, the rest when you land in Kathmandu, in US dollars or euros: cash adds no fee, a card adds 3.5 per cent. We do not take złoty or rupees. Third, if your plans change, you can move free to another date within one year, provided we hear from you 72 hours ahead (seven days for Tibet, Kailash and restricted areas); if you cancel instead, the deposit stays with us and nothing is refunded. Fourth, if the trek is cancelled by us, you get back what you paid minus taxes, bank and card charges, and anything we have already spent on permits and flights.
