Four days is enough to see the best of both cities. You spend a night in Kathmandu with a licensed heritage guide at Swayambhunath, Kathmandu Durbar Square, Pashupatinath and Boudhanath, fly to Pokhara, and spend two nights beside Phewa Lake with the Old Bazaar, Davis Falls, a cave, the mountain museum, a private boat and a sunrise at Sarangkot.

It suits people on a short visit and those who want culture and a lake without trekking. There is no high altitude, but expect cobbled squares, steps and an early start on the last morning. If you have more time, our seven-day Kathmandu and Pokhara tour and the four-day Kathmandu Valley heritage tour go slower.

Why Book This Trek With The Everest Holiday

Three Generations of Family Guides

Family-run since 2016 with three generations of guiding heritage. Not an agency — the family that runs the company leads your trek personally.

Private Group — No Strangers

Every trek we run is private. Your group only. We never combine bookings or add strangers to your party. If you book solo, you walk with a guide; if you book as four friends, your group stays four.

Nagarjun Learning Center Giveback

A fixed share of every booking funds the Nagarjun Learning Center — 70 children, 7 community centres, 3 full-time teachers, 600+ medical interventions, 275+ women supported. You see the impact at the centre on day 1.

Fixed departures are dates we have already committed to run. Your party still treks as its own private group with its own guide; we never merge bookings or add strangers, and solo trekkers are welcome on any date. Private departures on any other date you choose are also available. On both, the per-person price is set by the size of your own party.

Essential Information

Before you go

  • What to wear: comfortable shoes for cobbles and steps, and clothes that cover your shoulders and knees at temples.
  • Temples: shoes come off at some entrances. Leather items are not allowed inside a few Hindu temples.
  • Flights: the Kathmandu to Pokhara and Pokhara to Kathmandu flights are included, and flight times and weather can change the order of the days. Your guide travels with you.
  • Sarangkot: the mountains show on a clear morning. Cloud can hide them, and we cannot promise the view.
  • Best months: September to November and February to May. Summer is hot and wet, and winter mornings are cool and often hazy.
  • Documents: bring your passport.

FAQs

Swayambhunath and Kathmandu Durbar Square on day 1, and Pashupatinath and Boudhanath on day 2. Patan and Bhaktapur are not in the four-day plan; ask us if you want to swap a site.
The Old Bazaar and the Bindhyabasini temple, Davis Falls, one of two caves, the International Mountain Museum and a private boat on Phewa Lake on day 3, and Sarangkot at sunrise on day 4.
Yes. The Kathmandu to Pokhara and Pokhara to Kathmandu flights are in your price, for you and for your guide. Flight times can change the order of the days, and we tell you as soon as we know.
Yes, for the sites listed in the includes and the Pokhara sights. The official entrance fees for foreign visitors are set by the Nepal Tourism Board and are paid for you.
That one is slower and covers more. This is the short version for people with four days, and it flies between the two cities so no day is lost on the road.
Yes. Ask us for an extra night in Kathmandu or Pokhara, or for the Kathmandu Valley heritage tour or a Chitwan safari on either side, and we quote it.
Yes. Your guide and vehicle are for your party only. We never add strangers to a private booking.
The sightseeing is the same on all three. Budget gives you simple twin-share hotels, breakfast and an English-speaking heritage guide. Standard gives you private rooms in 3-star hotels, all meals and a guide in your language where we have one. Luxury gives you ensuite rooms in deluxe hotels, all meals with non-alcoholic drinks, a senior heritage guide and a more spacious vehicle.
No. A child pays the same as an adult, because permits, hotels, a seat in the vehicle and taxes cost us the same for a child. Tell us the age of each child when you book so we can plan the days around them.
A licensed guide leads every day. We tell you your guide's name once your booking is confirmed.
If we cannot run your trip, we refund what you have paid, less taxes, bank or card charges and any money already spent on your behalf, or move you to another date. If you cancel yourself, the deposit is not refundable, but you can reschedule free to any date within one year with at least 72 hours' notice.
Yes. Buy travel insurance at home, before you travel, and check that it covers medical care, domestic flights and the dates of your trip. We do not recommend insurance bought in Nepal.
You pay a 10% deposit to book and the balance before the trip. We take US dollars or euros, in cash or by card. Card payments carry a 3.5% bank charge.
