About Peak Climbing in Nepal

Short answer: We guide climbs of Nepal's trekking peaks: Island Peak (6,165 m), Mera Peak (6,476 m), Lobuche East (6,119 m), Pisang Peak (6,091 m) and Chulu West (6,419 m), plus an Everest Base Camp and Island Peak combination. Every climb is private, with permits, the garbage deposit and base camp food included.

Quick facts

  • Climbs on this page: 8 (including two Everest expeditions, price on request)
  • Price range: from USD 3,740 per person (Pisang Peak, Budget, 2 to 4 people) to USD 11,670 (Everest Base Camp and Island Peak, Luxury)
  • Best months: April to May and October to November
  • Difficulty: fit trekkers with basic rope and crampon skills; our guides teach the rest before the summit day
  • Group size: 1 to 20, always private

How to choose

Island Peak and Mera Peak are the classic first 6,000 m climbs. Mera is less technical but higher, Island has a steeper headwall with fixed ropes. Lobuche East is a step up and suits people who have climbed before. Pisang Peak and Chulu West are in the Annapurna region and pair well with the Annapurna Circuit. Every trip comes in Budget, Standard or Luxury. Budget keeps the cost down (shared rooms, no porter, meals not included on treks), Standard adds private rooms, all meals and one porter for every two people, and Luxury gives you the best rooms, your own porter and all meals with extras.

We never let anyone climb alone or walk apart from the guide, and we do not hire out guides or porters on their own for climbs. Your insurance must cover climbing and helicopter rescue to the summit height. Climbing permits need about 48 hours in government working days.

Questions people ask

Which is the easiest 6,000 m peak in Nepal?

Mera Peak is the least technical, but at 6,476 m it is the highest of the trekking peaks, so acclimatisation matters more than skill.

Do I need climbing experience?

No previous summit is required for Island or Mera, but you need good fitness and you must practise with ropes, harness and crampons, which we do with you before the climb.

What is included in the climbing price?

The climbing permit, the USD 500 garbage deposit, a licensed guide, base camp food and the camping gear on the mountain, plus oxygen on the climbs that list it. Each trip page lists the full inclusions per tier.

How do I book and pay?

A 10% deposit holds your dates and the rest is paid when you arrive in Kathmandu, in US dollars or euros, cash or card (card adds 3.5%). If your plans change you can move the trip free to any date within a year; the deposit itself is not refunded if you cancel.
