Everest Base Camp Trek Cost From Germany: The Real All-In Numbers in Euros for 2027

Last updated 7 October 2026. Frankfurt fares come from a search run that day. Euro figures assume US$1 = EUR 0.887 (European Central Bank, 6 October 2026), a rate that moves. We bill in US dollars and accept euros for the balance.

Frankfurt to Doha is about six hours, and that is where the German route to Everest quietly begins. Our company was registered in Kathmandu in 2016, and its guides come from three generations of one family. In short: US$1,399 Budget, US$2,499 Standard, US$4,999 Luxury, per person in a group of one to four, which converts to about EUR 1,240, EUR 2,220 and EUR 4,440. These hold for 2027. Add flights from Frankfurt, a visa, insurance and tips and one traveller pays about EUR 3,010 to EUR 3,480 on Budget, EUR 3,830 to EUR 4,200 on Standard travelling solo and EUR 6,160 to EUR 6,580 on Luxury.

Per person: the flight column gives the lowest and highest Frankfurt fare in the snapshot, and the column after it adds the 30-day visa, insurance, tips, and either meals on the trail (Budget) or spending money (Standard, Luxury). Kathmandu hotels are quoted separately in every tier; our own family homestay is US$15 per person per night, about EUR 10.

On the trail, Budget trekkers buy meals themselves, US$25 to US$40 a day or US$300 to US$480 over 12 days. Standard and Luxury include meals, so NPR 20,000 to 30,000 (US$130 to US$195) covers showers, charging, wifi and snacks. Take rupees from Kathmandu, since the Namche ATMs are often empty.

Frankfurt to Kathmandu: who flies it

No nonstop showed up. I priced economy with a checked bag, leaving Sunday 25 October 2026 and returning Wednesday 11 November, allowing one stop each way. The pattern was Qatar Airways out and Air India home.

The cheapest, EUR 1,253, was Qatar via Doha, leaving Frankfurt at 22:05 and reaching Kathmandu at 14:35 the next afternoon, about 11 hours 45 minutes in all, then Air India home via Delhi. Qatar both ways was EUR 1,313. Other Qatar and Air India pairings ran EUR 1,264 to EUR 1,393. So the range that day was EUR 1,253 to EUR 1,393, and Qatar via Doha carried every outbound result. Deutsche Reisepässe: buy the tourist visa at Kathmandu airport when you land. The Department of Immigration lists US$30 (15 days), US$50 (30 days, about EUR 40) and US$125 (90 days), all in dollars. You may apply online before flying and print the receipt. Passports normally need six months of validity, and you hand over one photo. Auslandskrankenversicherung: what German cover has to say

Statutory health insurance (gesetzliche Krankenversicherung) does not stand in for travel cover in Nepal, and nothing in it pays for a helicopter in the Khumbu. You need an Auslandskrankenversicherung with rescue and repatriation (Rücktransport), bought in Germany before you fly, not in Nepal.

Check four clauses: trekking to 6,000 metres (Kala Patthar is 5,545 m), helicopter rescue, illness as well as accident, and repatriation. Many annual policies stop at 3,000 or 4,000 metres. Alpine club membership, such as the German Alpine Club, may include worldwide rescue; ask whether it reaches Nepal at this altitude. Evacuation from Base Camp is US$3,000 to US$5,000, about EUR 2,650 to EUR 4,450. Basic trekking cover is typically US$50 to US$100 for two to three weeks and a full policy US$100 to US$180. Budget, Standard or Luxury

Each tier has a licensed guide, permits (park fee NPR 3,000, Khumbu fee NPR 3,000, TIMS NPR 2,000), airport transfers and a loaned down jacket and sleeping bag rated to minus 15. Standard alone: no porter, and the guide carries up to 10 kg. No single supplement, since the guide joins in Lukla. Highest night: Gorak Shep, 5,164 m. See Everest Base Camp 12 days.

Is it hard, and how do you prepare?

Die Zugspitze, at 2,962 m the highest point in Germany, is only a little above Lukla (2,860 m), while Gorak Shep is far higher still. Long hikes in the Alps or the Mittelgebirge train the legs; the two acclimatisation days train the rest. We grade the trek strenuous. Read how fit you need to be.

Feiertage und Ferien

German holidays differ by state, so take these as examples. In Baden-Württemberg the autumn break is 26 to 30 October 2026 and the Easter break 25 March to 2 April 2027. Good Friday is 26 March and Easter Monday 29 March 2027. Ascension Day is Thursday 6 May and Whit Monday 17 May 2027, so May offers two long weekends in the spring season. In Nepal, Dashain runs 17 to 23 October and Tihar 8 to 12 November 2026, when offices close; permits need 48 hours in working days. Until the clocks go back on 25 October 2026, Nepal is 3 hours 45 minutes ahead of Germany, and 4 hours 45 minutes ahead after.

Bezahlung

A 10 per cent deposit holds your date, and the balance is paid on arrival in Kathmandu in US dollars or euros, cash or card. The card surcharge is 3.5 per cent; cash has none. Nepali rupees are not accepted. Free rescheduling to any date within a year if you tell us 72 hours ahead (seven days for Tibet, Kailash and restricted areas); the deposit is not refunded if you cancel. If we cannot run the trip we return what you paid minus taxes, bank or card fees and money already spent.
