Everest Base Camp Trek Cost From Singapore: The Real All-In Numbers in SGD for 2027

Singapore is a short hop to Kathmandu compared with Europe: the quickest ticket in my search took about 8 hours 10 minutes. The Everest Holiday is a Kathmandu company registered in 2016, backed by three generations of guides in one family. The 12-day Everest Base Camp trek is US$1,399 on Budget (about SGD 1,790), US$2,785 on Standard (about SGD 3,190) and US$4,999 on Luxury (about SGD 6,380) per person for one to four trekkers, and those prices hold for 2027.

With a Changi return, the visa, insurance and tips on top, a single traveller should budget about SGD 3,440 to SGD 4,080 on Budget, SGD 4,630 to SGD 5,120 on Standard travelling solo and SGD 7,970 to SGD 8,540 on Luxury.

Changi to Kathmandu: the fares

Search settings: economy, one adult, a checked bag, out on Sunday 25 October 2026, back on Wednesday 11 November, one change at most each way, one ticket. The results were all one-stop tickets. Singapore Airlines operates Changi to Kathmandu too; its flight SQ441 leaves Kathmandu at 22:55 and lands at Changi at 06:15 the next morning, about 5 hours, so check singaporeair.com for a nonstop fare on your own dates.

The cheapest, SGD 913, was Air India both ways via Delhi. The 08:00 departure from Changi lands in Kathmandu at 16:10 the same day, about 10 hours 25 minutes, and the 17:10 return arrives at Changi at 12:10 the next day, about 16 hours 45 minutes. A 10:20 outbound at the same price lands at 22:55. Taking the 10:05 Air India flight home, which gets you into Changi at 21:55 the same day (about 9 hours 35 minutes), cost SGD 935.

Batik Air Malaysia via Kuala Lumpur out (Changi 12:30, Kathmandu 20:35, about 10 hours 20 minutes) with Air India home was SGD 961 to SGD 983. Air India out with Sichuan Airlines home via Chengdu, leaving at 11:45 and landing at 00:10 the next morning, was SGD 985. Sichuan Airlines out via Chengdu (01:10 from Changi, 10:30 in Kathmandu) with an Air India return was SGD 1,022. China Southern home via Guangzhou was SGD 1,057, and Malaysia Airlines via Kuala Lumpur, leaving Kathmandu at 13:00 and reaching Changi at 23:25, about 8 hours 10 minutes, was the quickest way back at SGD 1,077, with a cabin and a checked bag but no personal item. So the range was SGD 913 to SGD 1,077.

What it all adds up to, in Singapore dollars

One person per row. The flight column is the lowest and highest Changi fare, and the next adds up the 30-day visa, insurance, tips and either trail meals (Budget) or spending money (Standard, Luxury). Kathmandu hotels are not part of any tier and are quoted separately; our own homestay is US$15 per person a night, about SGD 20.

Meals on the trail are your cost on Budget, roughly US$25 to US$40 a day (US$300 to US$480 for the trek). Standard and Luxury include them, and between NPR 20,000 and 30,000 (US$130 to US$195) covers showers, charging and snacks. Rupees are drawn in Kathmandu. A guide is tipped US$15 to US$20 a day, a porter US$10 to US$15.

Visa for Singapore passports

On a Singapore passport you buy the visa at Kathmandu airport after landing. Immigration charges US$30 for 15 days, US$50 for 30 days (about SGD 60) or US$125 for 90 days, multiple entry, in US dollars. Do the online form beforehand if you wish. The passport needs six months of validity, and you bring a photo. Singapore is not among the 12 nationalities that must apply in advance. See the visa on arrival guide.

MediShield Life stops at Changi

MediShield Life and most hospital plans are built around treatment in Singapore, not a Himalayan trail. You need a travel policy from Singapore, bought before you fly; we do not recommend buying one in Nepal.

The policy must name trekking to 6,000 metres (Kala Patthar is 5,545 m), helicopter rescue, sickness cover as well as injury cover, and repatriation. Many standard travel plans stop at 3,000 or 4,000 metres. Paid out of pocket, a helicopter from Base Camp to Kathmandu is US$3,000 to US$5,000, about SGD 3,850 to SGD 6,400. What each tier gives you

On Budget you carry your own pack, share rooms and buy your meals, and you fly fixed-wing to Lukla. Standard has all meals, private rooms and one porter for two trekkers. Luxury has a dedicated porter, private deluxe ensuite rooms, fruit, nuts and unlimited soft drinks, and a helicopter to Lukla and back. All three include a licensed guide, the permits (NPR 3,000, 3,000 and 2,000), airport transfers, and a loaned down jacket and minus 15 sleeping bag. Alone on Standard, the guide takes up to 10 kg. Is there anywhere to train?

Bukit Timah Hill, Singapore's highest point at 164 m, is a stair workout, not altitude training. Mount Kinabalu in Sabah, at 4,095 m, is the nearest high mountain in the region, and Gorak Shep at 5,164 m is more than 1,000 m higher. The trek is strenuous, with five to seven hours of walking a day and two acclimatisation days built in. Group trip or private trip, the price per person is the same; only the band moves it.

Timing a trip from Singapore

Nepal is 2 hours 15 minutes behind Singapore all year, because neither country changes its clocks. A 12-day trek plus travel and a spare day needs about 14 days, which fits two weeks of leave. Deepavali on 8 November 2026 falls in the middle of Nepal's Tihar festival (8 to 12 November), when Nepali offices close, and Dashain runs 17 to 23 October. Good Friday is 26 March 2027, a good start to the spring season. A permit needs 48 hours of government working days. In autumn, Manthali (four to five hours' drive from Kathmandu, with a pick-up at some point between midnight and 2 am) is where the fixed-wing flights to Lukla leave from; Luxury travellers use the helicopter from Kathmandu.

Paying us from Singapore

A 10 per cent deposit confirms the booking, and the rest is paid in Kathmandu in US dollars or euros, in cash with no charge or by card with 3.5 per cent added. Singapore dollars and Nepali rupees are not accepted. The trek can be moved free to any date within a year if you let us know 72 hours ahead (seven days when Tibet, Kailash or a restricted area is involved). If you cancel instead, the deposit is not refunded and neither is anything else you have paid. If we cannot run the trek, you receive what you paid less taxes, bank or card charges and money already spent.

Help from Singapore

Singapore has no embassy in Kathmandu; its High Commission in New Delhi looks after Singaporeans in Nepal. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs asks travellers to eRegister before they go, at mfa.gov.sg.
