Everest Base Camp Trek Cost from the Czech Republic: Prices in CZK, Flights and Visa

Koruna figures use the European Central Bank reference rate of 6 October 2026, EUR 1 = CZK 24.405, which with US$1 = EUR 0.887 gives about CZK 21.7 per dollar. The rate changes every day. We bill in dollars or euros, never in koruna.

Prague's fares fall into two groups. Two itineraries came in under CZK 25,000 and the rest started above CZK 31,000, because the cheap pair is Air Arabia through Sharjah and the others use larger airlines.

Everest Base Camp in 12 days: US$1,399 per person on Budget (around CZK 30,400), US$2,785 on Standard (around CZK 60,400), US$4,999 on Luxury (around CZK 108,500), when two to four people go. A solo traveller pays US$2,275 on Budget (around CZK 49,400). Same in 2027. My estimate for one person, with a Prague return, a visa, insurance and tips: CZK 86,200 to CZK 109,100 on Budget, CZK 93,500 to CZK 113,900 on Standard (solo), CZK 143,900 to CZK 165,600 on Luxury.

Prague to Kathmandu: what the fares look like

Search criteria: economy, one adult, a hold bag included, departure Sunday 25 October 2026, return Wednesday 11 November, no self-transfer, and at most one stop each way.

Prague (PRG) returned 15 itineraries between CZK 24,152 and CZK 39,068, all with a single stop. Nothing falls between CZK 24,781 and CZK 31,706.

The two cheap ones are Air Arabia both ways through Sharjah: Prague 12:40, Sharjah 21:35, then 03:05 to Kathmandu at 08:45 on 26 October, about 15 hours 5 minutes. CZK 24,152 brings you home on the 23:45 night flight (Prague 11:40 on 12 November, about 16 hours 40 minutes), and CZK 24,781 on a 09:25 departure that lands in Prague at 20:55 the same day. Everything else involves a Gulf or Turkish airline for at least one direction.

Emirates out via Dubai with Air Arabia home was CZK 31,706 (Prague 14:45, Kathmandu 14:00 the next day) or CZK 32,150 (Prague 22:15, Kathmandu 18:40). Qatar Airways out through Doha was CZK 32,656. Turkish Airlines out via Istanbul, Prague 19:20 and Kathmandu 11:20, took about 11 hours 15 minutes and cost CZK 38,438. The most expensive, CZK 39,068, was that Turkish outbound with the daytime Air Arabia return. Air Arabia out with Turkish home was CZK 36,092, but the way back takes nearly 30 hours. Some of the Emirates results list no personal item. Only Prague was priced, so travellers from Brno or Ostrava should check their own airport.

Budget table in koruna

Below, each row is a single person. Flight prices span the lowest and highest result. The extras column holds the 30-day visa, insurance and tips, then meals (Budget) or spending money (Standard, Luxury). Hotels in Kathmandu are quoted on top, with the family homestay at US$15 per person per night, about CZK 320.

On the trail you spend on food only if you chose Budget: US$25 to US$40 a day, adding up to US$300 to US$480. The upper two tiers pay for meals. Everyone needs a little cash for showers, battery charging and snacks, which is 20,000 to 30,000 rupees (US$130 to US$195) and is best withdrawn in Kathmandu. Tipping works out at US$15 to US$20 a day for the guide and US$10 to US$15 a day for a porter.

Visa and entry for Czech passports

The Czech Republic is not on the list of twelve nationalities that need a visa in advance. Fees are US$30 for fifteen days, US$50 for thirty (about CZK 1,080) and US$125 for ninety. They are in US dollars, with multiple entry. The Czech foreign ministry's Nepal pages say an entry visa is needed, that the passport should be valid for at least six months after the planned date of entry, and that immigration officers may ask for proof of travel insurance covering health care and repatriation. EHIC and travel insurance

The insurer VZP says the European health card works in EU and EEA countries, the UK and Switzerland, and describes commercial travel insurance as a necessity for trips elsewhere. Nepal is outside that area. The ministry's Nepal pages call high-mountain hiking risky and advise never to trek alone.

Look for an altitude cover of 6,000 m (Kala Patthar stands at 5,545 m; ordinary plans often cap out at 3,000 to 4,000 m), helicopter evacuation (US$3,000 to US$5,000, about CZK 65,000 to CZK 108,000, out of your own pocket otherwise), and cover for illness as well as injury. Czech help in Nepal

There is no Czech embassy in Kathmandu. Nepal is covered by the embassy in New Delhi (+91 11 2415 5200, [email protected]), and the Czech Republic has an Honorary Consulate General in Kathmandu, at Ganeshman Singh Path in Tripureshwor, open Monday to Friday from 10:00 to 18:00 according to the ministry. For emergencies the foreign ministry runs a 24-hour line, +420 222 420 222. The ministry also offers the voluntary Drozd registration for travellers.

What each tier includes

Every tier has a licensed guide, the permits (NPR 3,000, 3,000 and 2,000), airport transfers and a borrowed down jacket and sleeping bag rated to minus 15. Beyond that: Budget leaves the bag, the meals and the room sharing to you, with a fixed-wing flight to Lukla. Standard adds all meals, a private room and a porter for each two trekkers. Luxury adds a porter of your own, a private deluxe ensuite room, fruit, nuts, unlimited soft drinks and a helicopter both ways. On Standard, a lone traveller has no porter and the guide takes up to 10 kg. On Budget, a solo Everest Base Camp trekker pays US$2,275 instead of US$1,399. Kathmandu hotels are priced separately.

Sněžka and the Krkonoše versus Everest

Sněžka, the highest peak in the Czech Republic, is 1,603 m, and Gorak Shep is 5,164 m, more than three times higher. The Krkonoše are good for long days with a pack, but nothing in the Czech lands prepares your body for the thin air, so we walk slowly and include two rest days to acclimatise. Walking five to seven hours a day, several days in a row, is the target; how fit you need to be.

Prices per person by group size

2 to 4 travellers: Budget CZK 30,400, Standard CZK 60,400, Luxury CZK 108,500 each. 5 to 8 travellers: Budget CZK 28,200, Standard CZK 54,700, Luxury CZK 107,400 each. 9 to 12 travellers: Budget CZK 26,000, Standard CZK 53,600, Luxury CZK 106,300 each. 13 to 20 travellers: Budget CZK 21,700, Standard CZK 53,200, Luxury CZK 105,200 each.

Booking privately costs the same as joining a group. Headcount alone decides the band.

Time off, holidays and time zones

The Labour Code (§211) sets annual leave at no less than four weeks. State holiday dates near the trek: Wednesday 28 October 2026 (Independence Day). In spring 2027, Good Friday is 26 March, Easter Monday 29 March, and 1 May and 8 May both fall on Saturdays. Czech clocks go back on Sunday 25 October 2026. Before that Nepal is 3 hours 45 minutes ahead of Prague, and after it 4 hours 45 minutes.

Nepal's calendar has two long holidays in the autumn window: Dashain from 17 to 23 October 2026 and Tihar from 8 to 12 November. Government offices close for both, and a permit needs 48 hours counted in working days. Budget and Standard guests may fly to Lukla from Manthali in the busy weeks, after a four to five hour road transfer starting between midnight and 2 am. On Luxury, the helicopter leaves Kathmandu.

How to pay from the Czech Republic

Book with 10 per cent down. You owe the remainder at the Kathmandu end, payable in US dollars or euros; cash carries no extra charge, a card costs 3.5 per cent more, and koruna and rupees are not an option. A date change is free, to any day within twelve months, with 72 hours' warning (seven days for Tibet, Kailash and restricted areas). If you cancel instead, the deposit and anything else you have paid are not refunded. If we are unable to run the trek, we repay what you have paid after deducting taxes, bank and card charges, and money already spent on permits or flights.

Verification

What can you verify? The company registrar, TAAN, the tourism licence and the forex certificate, all public. What will you find? A company registered in Kathmandu in 2016, TAAN member 1586, three generations of family guiding behind it and over 300 reviews on TripAdvisor, Google and Trustpilot. What will you not find?
