Updated 2 November 2026.

Short answer: The 12-day Everest Base Camp trek costs USD 1,399 Budget, USD 2,785 Standard and USD 4,999 Luxury per person for two to four people. A solo trekker pays USD 2,275, USD 3,345 or USD 5,640. Those prices include your permits, a licensed guide and the Lukla flights. A Bangladeshi passport holder does not pay for a Nepal visa on a first visit in a calendar year, so apart from the flight from Dhaka the extras are small: on Standard I put them at about USD 210 to 420 before tips.

I am Shreejan. If you are planning this trek from Bangladesh, three questions come up first: is the visa free, what does the flight cost, and how do I pay in dollars. Below I go through each one, and I say where I am sure and where you should check with someone official.

What does the Everest Base Camp trek cost from Bangladesh in 2027?

These are the prices on our Everest Base Camp trek, 12 days, read on 2 November 2026. They are per person, in US dollars, and the trek is private on every tier.

Group sizeBudgetStandardLuxury
1 personUSD 2,275USD 3,345USD 5,640
2 to 4 peopleUSD 1,399USD 2,785USD 4,999
5 to 8 peopleUSD 1,305USD 2,595USD 4,949
9 to 12 peopleUSD 1,260USD 2,470USD 4,899
13 to 20 peopleUSD 1,190USD 2,455USD 4,849

The price is the same wherever your passport is from. I do not run a separate price for Bangladesh. What changes for you is the extras around the trek, and I cover them below.

If you want taka, our Nepal trekking from Bangladesh page converts at about BDT 123.5 to the dollar (rate of 28 September 2026), which makes USD 2,785 roughly BDT 343,900. That is only a guide. Your bank sets the real rate on the day, and we charge in dollars.

What is the difference between Budget, Standard and Luxury?

Budget: you carry your own bag, rooms are shared, meals are not included and you fly to Lukla on the fixed-wing flight. Standard: all meals, private rooms and one porter between two trekkers, so each guest gives the porter about 10 kg. Luxury: a porter for you alone, deluxe ensuite rooms, fruit and nuts, unlimited soft drinks, and a helicopter to Lukla and back.

The law allows a porter to carry 20 kg at most, so a bag of up to 20 kg is fine on Luxury. If you travel alone on Standard there is no porter, and the guide carries up to 10 kg of your gear.

What do you pay for outside the trek price?

Not in the price: your flight to Kathmandu, travel insurance, your Kathmandu hotel, tips, and on Budget your meals on the trail. My own numbers for one person, leaving out the flight and tips:

ItemBudgetStandardLuxury
Trek, 2 to 4 peopleUSD 1,399USD 2,785USD 4,999
Nepal visa, first visit of the yearFreeFreeFree
Trail meals (Budget only)USD 300 to 480IncludedIncluded
Insurance with altitude and helicopter coverUSD 50 to 180USD 50 to 180USD 50 to 180
Kathmandu, 2 to 3 nightsUSD 30 to 45 at our family homestaysamesame
Showers, charging, snacks(in the meals line)USD 130 to 195USD 130 to 195
Total, without flight and tipsUSD 1,779 to 2,104USD 2,995 to 3,205USD 5,209 to 5,419

The insurance, meal and pocket-money ranges come from the same arithmetic I use in the American version of this guide, so a quote from a Bangladeshi insurer may differ. Our family homestay is USD 15 per person per night. A Kathmandu hotel is quoted separately and costs more.

Tips come on top. Our tipping guide suggests about USD 15 to 20 a day for the guide and USD 10 to 15 a day for a porter, and a group splits it.

Do Bangladeshis need a visa for Nepal?

You need one, but it is free on your first visit in a visa year. Nepal's Department of Immigration lists SAARC citizens, except Afghans, for a free visa of up to 30 days on the first visit in a given visa year (read on 2 November 2026). The Nepal Tourism Board names Bangladesh and gives the visa year as January to December. You get the visa on arrival at Tribhuvan International Airport.

If you have already used your free visit that year, you pay. The Department of Immigration lists USD 30 for 15 days, USD 50 for 30 days and USD 125 for 90 days. Rules can change, so ask the Nepal Embassy in Dhaka before you buy a ticket. For the general rules, see our Nepal visa on arrival guide. A trip in 2027 counts as a new visa year.

How do you fly from Dhaka to Kathmandu?

Biman Bangladesh Airlines flies the route nonstop. The timetables I found on booking sites disagree with each other, so I will not print a departure time. The flight itself is short, listed at about 1 hour 25 minutes to 1 hour 45 minutes. US-Bangla Airlines said in July 2026 that it planned to restart Dhaka to Kathmandu in September 2026, with four flights a week. I could not confirm that it has started. Check both airlines' own pages, because fares change daily and I do not want to print one that is wrong by the time you read it.

Nepal is 15 minutes behind Bangladesh, so there is no jet lag to speak of. Land, sleep and take a rest day in Kathmandu before the Lukla flight. That gives your passport, permits and bags a day of slack.

Here is the part I would think about. Dhaka is close to sea level. Lukla is at 2,860 m, Everest Base Camp is at 5,364 m and Kala Patthar at 5,545 m. Your body does that climb in 12 days, so I will not shorten the rest days. Namche (3,440 m) on day 3 and Dingboche (4,410 m) on day 6 stay. Read how to prevent altitude sickness and how fit you need to be.

What permits do Bangladeshis pay for on the Everest trek?

Bangladesh is a SAARC country, and Nepal charges SAARC nationals lower park and TIMS fees. These are the rates on our trek page, per person. The park and TIMS fees match the Nepal Tourism Board's list.

PermitForeignerSAARC (Bangladesh)
Sagarmatha National Park entryNPR 3,000NPR 1,500
Khumbu Pasang Lhamu Rural Municipality feeNPR 3,000NPR 3,000
TIMS cardNPR 2,000NPR 1,000

We arrange all three and they are inside your trek price. Keep your passport handy, as the lower rate depends on it. The park fees are on the Nepal Tourism Board park fee page. Our permits guide has the rest.

When is the best time to trek to Everest Base Camp?

October, November, March and April. The figures below are published averages, not forecasts: daily high and low in degrees Celsius at Namche (3,450 m) from the FAO climate database, and rainfall at Lukla (2,786 m) from the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology normals for 1991 to 2020. I took them from our month-by-month weather guide.

MonthNamche high / lowLukla rainOn the trail
January6.9 / -8.515 mmClear and very cold. Some high lodges shut
February6.4 / -6.517 mmSame cold as January
March9.6 / -3.045 mmSpring begins. Cold early in the month
April12.8 / 0.859 mmWarm days, busy
May14.3 / 3.7128 mmWarmest, hazier afternoons
June to August15.6 to 16.2 / 5.9 to 7.8325 to 642 mmMonsoon. I would not send a client
September14.6 / 5.9419 mmStill wet. Late month only
October12.5 / 1.2103 mmPeak season, the first dry month
November9.1 / -3.86 mmAlmost no rain, colder nights
December7.6 / -7.10.5 mmDry, cold and quiet

One thing is different for you. A Bangladeshi trekker leaves a country where June to September is also the rainy season, and may think the Himalayas are drier then. They are not. The monsoon hits the Khumbu too, and the Lukla flight is the weak link. Lukla's airport closes for visibility about half the time in the monsoon, and about half the flights are cancelled. Bangladeshi festivals shift around the year: Pohela Boishakh falls on 14 April, but Eid and Durga Puja follow the moon, so look up the 2027 dates before you fix leave. Nepal's busiest weeks are in October. For a longer look, read EBC in October 2027.

Some autumn Lukla flights leave from Manthali (Ramechhap), a four to five hour road trip from Kathmandu with a very early pick-up. Our Ramechhap and Lukla guide explains it.

How do I pay from Bangladesh?

We charge in US dollars or euros. We do not take Nepali rupees from foreign clients. A 10 per cent deposit confirms your dates, you can pay it by card through our website, and we cover the 3.5 per cent card charge on the deposit. You pay the balance when you arrive in Kathmandu, in dollars or euros: cash has no charge and a card payment carries 3.5 per cent.

What I do not know is how much foreign currency a Bangladeshi bank will let you spend abroad or on an international card. Those limits are set by Bangladesh's own rules and your bank. Ask your bank before you travel, and tell me early if a card is declined, so we can look at another way to pay.

Is the Everest Base Camp trek safe to book directly from Bangladesh?

Scams are real in Nepal trekking, so do not simply take my word. We were registered in 2016, our TAAN member number is 1586, and the registers are public. You can check the company registrar, TAAN, the tourism licence and the central bank forex certificate. Even licensed companies have been involved in scams, so ask for a video call before you send a deposit.

Frequently asked questions

How much does the Everest Base Camp trek cost from Bangladesh?

The trek is USD 1,399 Budget, USD 2,785 Standard and USD 4,999 Luxury per person for two to four people. Add your flight to Kathmandu and tips. With the extras above, the total without the flight is about USD 1,779 to 2,104 on Budget, USD 2,995 to 3,205 on Standard and USD 5,209 to 5,419 on Luxury.

Do Bangladeshi citizens need a visa for Nepal?

Yes, but it is free for up to 30 days on your first visit in a visa year (January to December), according to Nepal's Department of Immigration and the Nepal Tourism Board. You get it on arrival at Kathmandu airport. Confirm with the Nepal Embassy in Dhaka before you fly.

Is there a direct flight from Dhaka to Kathmandu?

Yes. Biman Bangladesh Airlines flies it nonstop, in about 1 hour 25 minutes to 1 hour 45 minutes according to the listings I read. US-Bangla Airlines said it would restart the route in September 2026, which I could not confirm. Fares change, so check the airline.

Can I pay in taka?

No. We take US dollars or euros, cash or card, and not Nepali rupees. Taka figures on our site are labelled approximate conversions only.

Is the Everest Base Camp trek too hard for a first-time trekker?

We grade it strenuous. You do not need climbing skills, but you do need to walk day after day at height, and the plan is built around two rest days. Slow walkers do well. Read the fitness guide before you book.

What insurance do I need?

Buy it at home, not in Nepal. Cover the trek's highest point, 5,545 m, rounded up to 6,000 m, plus helicopter evacuation. Many standard plans stop at 3,000 or 4,000 m, so read the document. See insurance for Everest Base Camp to 6,000 m.

Can I get halal food on the trail?

I cannot promise halal meat in the mountains. Dal bhat, eggs, potatoes and noodles are on every teahouse menu, and vegetarian is the safest choice. Tell me before you book and we can talk it through.

Can I change my dates if something happens?

Rescheduling is free with 72 hours' notice, to any date inside a year. The deposit is not refunded if you cancel. If we cannot run the trip, you get back what you paid minus taxes, bank charges and money already spent.

If you want a quote for your dates, message me on WhatsApp at +977 9810351300.
