Everest Base Camp Trek Cost from Brazil: Prices in Reais, Flights and Visa

There were no São Paulo to Kathmandu fares for these dates, so this page prices everything except the flight. The search was 7 October 2026, Guarulhos (GRU) return, leaving 25 October and back on 11 November, economy, one adult with a checked bag, no self-transfer; it returned nothing with one change each way or with two, and nothing for the outbound alone. Ask your travel agent or an airline for the São Paulo fare on your dates and add it to the table below.

Our 12-day Everest Base Camp trek is US$1,399 a head on Budget (about BRL 6,950), US$2,785 on Standard (about BRL 13,840) and US$4,999 on Luxury (about BRL 24,840) when two to four people travel. The 2027 prices have not moved. A solo Budget trekker pays US$2,275, about BRL 11,300.

Everything except the flight, in reais

Here are the numbers for one person. The cost of the ticket is shown as a range, cheapest to dearest. After it comes the 30-day visa, insurance and tips, with trail meals on Budget and pocket money on the others. Kathmandu hotels are not in any tier; a bed at our family homestay is US$15 per person a night, about BRL 70.

Meals are not included on Budget, which means US$25 to US$40 a day from you, or US$300 to US$480 over the 12 days. The higher tiers cover all of it. For hot showers, battery charging and snacks, take US$130 to US$195 (20,000 to 30,000 rupees) in cash from a Kathmandu machine. Expect to tip your guide US$15 to US$20 a day and a porter US$10 to US$15.

Visa for a Brazilian passport

Brazil is not one of the twelve countries that must apply before travelling. It costs US$30 for a 15-day visa, US$50 for 30 days (about BRL 250) and US$125 for 90 days, in US dollars; all are multiple entry. Bring a photo and a passport valid for six months. The yellow fever certificate

Nepal asks for a yellow fever vaccination certificate from travellers who arrive from, or pass through, countries at risk of yellow fever transmission. That is how the Norwegian Institute of Public Health describes the rule, which comes from the World Health Organization's list. Brazil has areas with risk, so a Brazilian traveller should bring the international certificate (CIVP) and ask the Nepali embassy before flying. Brazil has issued the certificate electronically since 2019. I am not a doctor, so ask your clinic what applies to your route.

Insurance bought in Brazil

Take a travel policy before you leave Brazil. The public health system, SUS, does not follow you to Nepal, and I would not buy cover once you are there. Read the policy for the altitude limit (6,000 m or above, since Kala Patthar is 5,545 m, while many plans stop at 3,000 or 4,000 m), for helicopter rescue (US$3,000 to US$5,000 if you have to pay it yourself, about BRL 14,900 to BRL 24,800), and for illness as well as injury. Which tier

Budget: carry your own pack, share rooms, buy your meals, fly fixed-wing to Lukla. Standard: meals included, private rooms, one porter for two people. Luxury: a porter for you alone, deluxe private rooms with a bathroom, fruit, nuts, unlimited soft drinks, and a helicopter to Lukla and back. Every tier has a licensed guide, three permits (NPR 3,000, 3,000 and 2,000), airport pick-ups and a borrowed down jacket and minus 15 sleeping bag. Alone on Standard, there is no porter and the guide carries up to 10 kg. On Budget, a solo Everest Base Camp trekker pays US$2,275 instead of US$1,399. Hotels in Kathmandu are not included in any tier. The route: 12-day trek.

Brazil's highest peak is about the height of Lukla

Pico da Neblina, the highest mountain in Brazil, is about 3,000 m, close to Lukla at 2,860 m. Gorak Shep, where you sleep at the top, is at 5,164 m. The walking days run five to seven hours, with two acclimatisation days within the 12. Group prices in reais

2 to 4 travellers: Budget BRL 6,950, Standard BRL 13,840, Luxury BRL 24,840 each. 5 to 8 travellers: Budget BRL 6,450, Standard BRL 12,520, Luxury BRL 24,590 each. 9 to 12 travellers: Budget BRL 5,960, Standard BRL 12,270, Luxury BRL 24,340 each. 13 to 20 travellers: Budget BRL 4,960, Standard BRL 12,170, Luxury BRL 24,090 each.

The per-person price is the same for a private trip or a group trip. Only the size of the party changes it.

Time, leave and dates

Brazil has no daylight saving now, so Nepal is 8 hours 45 minutes ahead of Brasilia time all year. The CLT gives 30 days of paid vacation after 12 months of work, which can be split into up to three periods, one of at least 14 days. That makes the trek comfortable. Carnival 2027 falls on 8 and 9 February, deep winter in the Khumbu, so March and April are the more usual spring window. Good Friday is 26 March 2027 and Tiradentes is 21 April 2027. Before booking autumn dates, know that Nepal's big holidays, Dashain (17 to 23 October 2026) and Tihar (8 to 12 November), close the offices that issue permits, which take 48 hours of working days. And in the rush months the fixed-wing flight to Lukla starts at Manthali, not Kathmandu: the transfer takes four to five hours, with pick-up in the small hours between midnight and 2 am. Luxury has a helicopter from Kathmandu.

Paying from Brazil

Start with a 10 per cent deposit. Everything else is paid in Kathmandu in US dollars or euros, and you choose between cash with no surcharge and card with 3.5 per cent added. Please do not bring reais or rupees to pay with, since we cannot take them. A date change is free for up to a year ahead, with 72 hours of notice (a week for Tibet, Kailash and restricted areas). The deposit itself is not refunded if you cancel. A trek we cancel is refunded for what you paid, apart from taxes, bank and card charges and anything already spent on permits or flights. Your Brazilian bank may add its own foreign-transaction charge.
