You have five days. Maybe fewer. You want to see Everest, not just from a photograph or a plane window, but from up close — close enough to feel the cold air that pours off the Khumbu Glacier, close enough to understand why this mountain has pulled people from every country on earth to stand in its shadow. The Short Trek to Namche with EBC Heli Tour makes that possible. Two days of trekking through the heart of the Khumbu, one night in the Sherpa capital of Namche Bazaar, and then a helicopter flight that carries you above the glaciers to Everest Base Camp at 5,364 metres (17,598ft) — all in five days.

This is not a shortcut. It is a different way of experiencing the world’s highest mountain — one that combines real trekking with aerial access to altitudes that would normally take ten or more days to reach on foot. You will walk the same suspension bridges and Sherpa trails that every EBC trekker walks, sleep in a teahouse at 3,440 metres, eat dal bhat in a dining room warmed by a yak-dung stove, and cross prayer flag–draped bridges over the Dudh Koshi River. Then a helicopter lifts you above the clouds to the place where the world’s greatest mountaineering expeditions begin. It is the best of both worlds — and it fits inside a week.

What Makes This Trek Unforgettable

  • Fly by helicopter to Everest Base Camp (5,364m / 17,598ft) — see the Khumbu Icefall, the Western Cwm, and the full Everest massif from close range
  • Trek through the classic Khumbu trail from Lukla to Namche Bazaar — suspension bridges, Sherpa villages, and mountain views that build with every step
  • Acclimatise in Namche Bazaar (3,440m / 11,286ft) — the vibrant Sherpa capital with markets, bakeries, and views of Everest and Ama Dablam from every rooftop
  • Hike to the Everest View Hotel (3,880m / 12,730ft) on your rest day — your first clear view of the summit, with a hot cup of tea in your hand
  • Land at Lukla (2,860m / 9,383ft) — one of the world’s most dramatic airports, where the runway ends at a mountain wall
  • Combine genuine Himalayan trekking with helicopter access — you earn the mountain on foot, then fly to altitudes that would normally require ten more days
  • Perfect for older travellers, those with limited time, or anyone wanting a Khumbu taster without a full EBC commitment
  • Cross suspension bridges draped in prayer flags over the Dudh Koshi River — some of the highest in the world
  • Experience Sherpa hospitality in centuries-old villages where Buddhist prayer wheels spin at every corner

5-Day Short Trek to Namche with EBC Heli Tour Overview

Five days. That is the beauty of this trip. You fly to Lukla on Day 1, trek to Phakding (2,610m / 8,563ft) on the first afternoon, then climb to Namche Bazaar (3,440m / 11,286ft) on Day 2. The trail follows the Dudh Koshi River through forest and across suspension bridges that sway over milky-blue glacial water — the same bridges and the same river that full EBC trekkers cross, and the same views that make the Khumbu one of the most photographed valleys on earth.

Day 3 is your acclimatisation day in Namche. You hike to the Everest View Hotel (3,880m / 12,730ft) for your first clear view of Everest, Lhotse, and Ama Dablam, then explore the town — its markets, its bakeries, its museum, and its rooftop cafes where trekkers from every country swap stories over apple pie and ginger tea.

Day 4 is the helicopter day. Early morning, you board the helicopter at Namche or Lukla and fly north above the valley you trekked through — over Tengboche, Dingboche, Lobuche, and Gorak Shep — to land near Everest Base Camp at 5,364 metres. The time on the ground is limited at this altitude, but it is enough to stand where expeditions begin, to see the Khumbu Icefall tumbling from the Western Cwm, and to take photographs that no amount of screen time can replicate. Then the helicopter returns you to Lukla, and on Day 5 you fly back to Kathmandu.

Before You Arrive

Please arrive in Kathmandu by 4 PM the day before your trek. This gives you time for a final gear check, a briefing with your guide, and a good night’s rest before the early morning flight to Lukla.

Your Online Briefing

Think of this as our first coffee together — but online. After you book, we schedule a video call where we walk you through every detail: what to pack, what the trek days look like, what the helicopter experience involves, and anything else on your mind. No question is too small.

This is also when we learn about you. Our trek itinerary does not include your hotel in Kathmandu — during the briefing, share your preferences and budget, and we will arrange accommodation that fits. Whether you want a simple guesthouse in Thamel or a five-star hotel, we will set it up for you.

Lukla Flight and Helicopter — What You Need to Know

The flight to Lukla is one of the most dramatic in the world — a short ride between mountain peaks that ends on a runway carved into a hillside at 2,860m (9,383ft). It is weather-dependent, so we recommend keeping a buffer day before your international flight home.

The helicopter flight to EBC is also weather-dependent. If conditions are not safe for flying on the planned day, we will reschedule — your safety is never negotiable. This is why buffer days matter.

During peak trekking season (March–May and October–November), flights to Lukla operate from Manthali Airport (Ramechhap) instead of Kathmandu. If your flight departs from Manthali, we will pick you up from your hotel around midnight and drive you there (4–6 hours). All ground transportation is included in every package.

Your Trek, Your Way

Every trek we run is private — your group only, no strangers added. Whether you choose Budget, Standard, or Luxury, the mountains are yours and your companions’ alone. This is not a conveyor belt. This is your personal Himalayan experience.

Your hotel in Kathmandu is not included in the trek package — and that is intentional. Kathmandu has everything from USD 10 guesthouses in Thamel to five-star hotels with rooftop views of the city. During the online briefing, tell us what you prefer and we will arrange it for you.

Difficulty: Easy to Moderate (2.5 out of 5)

Only two days of actual trekking, reaching a maximum trek altitude of 3,880m (12,730ft) at the Everest View Hotel hike. The helicopter takes you to 5,364m (17,598ft), but you spend only 15-20 minutes at that altitude before descending. No previous trekking experience is required. You should be comfortable walking 4-6 hours per day over uneven terrain for two days. The acclimatisation day at Namche helps your body adjust before the helicopter flight to higher altitude.

Himalayas for Every Budget — same expert guides, same safety, three comfort levels.

Your Trek, Our Family

In the 1960s, Shreejan’s grandfather Hari Lal Simkhada helped international travellers experience the Himalayas for the first time — arranging logistics, finding routes, building trust with people who had come halfway around the world on a dream. His son Ganesh went on to hold senior positions in Nepal’s tourism and mountaineering institutions. And now Shreejan, the third generation, designs every itinerary you see on this website.

This is not a company that was started in a boardroom. It was started on a mountain trail, three generations ago.

Shreejan hand-picks the guide for your group from our team of TAAN-certified mountaineering professionals — people who grew up in these mountains and know every trail, every teahouse owner, and every weather sign. He briefs your guide personally before your trek begins, because your safety and experience are not something we delegate to a system.

Have a question right now? WhatsApp Shreejan directly: +977 9810351300. No sales team. No chatbot. The person who designed your trek answers personally.

Solo Trekkers Welcome

You do not need a travel partner to trek in Nepal. Most of the people who book with us come alone — and by the end of the first trek day, they are sharing meals and swapping stories like old friends.

Our groups are small — 2 to 20 people — because the Himalayas deserve more than a crowd. You book your trek, and it is yours. We will never add strangers to your group without your permission.

If you want to trek completely privately, you can. If you prefer company, tell us and we will list your dates as a fixed departure on our website so other solo travellers can find you and join. Either way, the trip is built around you.

Difficulty: Easy to Moderate (2.5 out of 5)

Only two days of trekking are required. You walk 4-6 hours per day on the Lukla–Namche section, which involves well-established trails with some steep climbs and river crossings. The helicopter handles the high altitude, taking you to 5,364m for a brief landing. A reasonable level of fitness is recommended but no trekking experience is needed. One acclimatisation day at Namche is built into the itinerary.

Trek With a Purpose — Changing the World, One Step at a Time — Changing the World, One Step at a Time

In 2019, Shreejan and Shamjhana founded the Nagarjun Learning Center in Saldum Village — one of the most remote communities in Nepal’s Dhading District, where children had no school after hours, no computers, and limited healthcare. Today, 70 children receive free education and hot meals every school day. The centre has grown to 7 learning centres across Nepal, providing healthcare for 600 people, internet access for 65 children, and empowerment programmes for over 275 women.

A portion of every trek you book funds this work directly. The centre is verified and listed on the United Nations Partner Portal.

When you walk these mountains with us, every step you take helps change a life in rural Nepal. That is what we mean by Trek With a Purpose — Changing the World, One Step at a Time — changing the world, one step at a time.

Essential Information

5-Day Everest Base Camp Helicopter Trip Information

At Kathmandu's Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA), you are greeted warmly and begin your Himalayan adventure. After greeting you with a traditional marigold or Khada and carrying a sign with your name, our representative will drive you to your accommodation.

You will fly domestically from Kathmandu/Manthali to Lukla on the day of the trek departure. About forty minutes will pass throughout the flight. To utilize this service, please send us an email with your arrival and departure dates in advance.

Accommodation

This Everest base camp helicopter package included 4-night lodge or teahouse stays. We provide the finest standard lodges in the trek areas. Along the walk, there will be different facilities, such as hot showers, electricity for charging devices, and wifi, but these will cost extra. You need to stay in Kathmandu at least two days, but our package does not cover them.

Each tier (Budget, Standard, Luxury) includes different levels of accommodation, meals, and extras. See the What's Included section for the full breakdown.

Meals

During this trip of a helicopter tour to Everest Base Camp, you will enjoy healthy and delicious meals with a standard meal provided. Breakfast, lunch, and dinner are usually served buffet-style, offering a wide variety of dishes. With so many choices, you’ll easily find meals that suit your taste. All personal bills, like alcoholic, hot (tea/coffee), and cold drinks in tea houses, are excluded from the package.

Luggage

During the trek, our experienced guides and Sherpas will accompany you, sharing useful information about the places you visit. For every two trekkers, we provide one porter to carry your luggage, with a maximum weight limit of 20 kg per porter. If you prefer, we can also arrange one porter for each trekker. For every two trekkers, we provide one porter to carry luggage (up to 10 kg per porter). If needed, we can also arrange one porter for each trekker. Our team member was raised in the high Himalayas, making them well-adapted to high-altitude conditions.

Best season for trek

The Everest region experiences different climates throughout the year. One of the most favored trekking seasons is March–May in spring, when temperatures range from 10°C to 20°C at lower elevations to -5°C to 10°C at higher elevations. In Autumn (September–November), it is off-trekking season, with clear skies and comfortable temperatures between 20°C and 5°C. Winter (December-February) is the coldest period, with temperatures ranging from 15°C to -15°C. In Summer (June-August), there is heavy rainfall below 3500m and the temperature ranges from 27°C to 5°C.

Facilities and Essentials

Water

You can buy bottled water from shops along the trekking route or drink boiled or filtered water provided at the lodges. We strongly recommend bringing a reusable water bottle and refilling it with boiled water to help reduce plastic waste. Avoid drinking untreated tap, river, or well water, as it may cause sickness. For added safety, carry water purification tablets or buy them at local shops on the trail. To avoid altitude sickness and keep your energy up on your walk, it's vitally crucial to drink plenty of water at high altitudes.

Communication

We will provide you with a SIM card in Kathmandu and teach you how to access data and recharge cash on it, but mobile signals may be weak at higher altitudes. For your safety, our lead guide keeps daily contact with all trekking teams via mobile. We are fully prepared to handle emergencies, and our guides are trained to assist whenever needed. Additionally, we use walkie-talkies and satellite phones in areas with no network to ensure constant communication.

Travel Essentials

Visa

Foreigners require a visa to enter Nepal, but Indians don't. Most people can get a visa when they arrive at Kathmandu International Airport. The current fee is USD 50 for 30 days, payable in cash. Citizens of China and SAARC countries receive a free visa. Also, we recommend you to inform your country embassy or consulate of your visit to Nepal and your travel partner here.

Travel insurance

Having comprehensive travel insurance is mandatory for this trek. Your policy must cover medical expenses and emergency helicopter rescue up to an altitude of 5,500 meters. Before the trek begins, you will need to provide us with a copy of your insurance policy.

Currency Exchange

The Nepali Rupee (NPR) is the country's official currency; one US dollar is equivalent to around 130 NPR. In Kathmandu, you may find banks and approved money exchange centers where you can exchange major foreign currencies. ATMs are widely available to withdraw NPR, but extra service fees may apply. Make sure your notes are new and undamaged, as old or torn bills may be refused. Only the 100 INR note from India is legally accepted in Nepal. In Lukla and Namche Bazaar there are ATMs where you can exchange money, but no guarantee. Before travelling to trekking regions, it's best to exchange money in Kathmandu, as there are few exchange options in remote areas.

Extra Expense

While our package covers most of your expenses during the trek, you will need to budget for some personal items like meals and accommodation in Kathmandu, visa fees, snacks, hot showers, personal equipment, tips for the crew, etc. we recommend that you budget approximately $20 USD per day for these personal expenses during the trek.

Typical day

We’ll start each morning with an early breakfast. The day’s trek is usually split into two parts: a 3–4 hour trek, followed by a one-hour lunch break, and then a shorter trek in the afternoon. Dinner is served around 7:00 p.m., and our guide will brief you on the plan for the next day. The rest of the evening is yours to relax, explore the village, or enjoy some downtime with your fellow trekkers. You'll take a scenic helicopter flight from Namche Bazaar to Everest Base Camp and Kala Patthar; you can take photos and sightsee, and you'll return by helicopter to Lukla.

We can also set up spiritual trips for Buddhists and Hindus that take you to temples, stupas, monasteries, and meditation centers. When you're booking a trip, please have a look at our ADD-ON package for an amazing adventure during the trek.

Ecotourism practices

We ask that you join our eco-friendly hiking practice because we are very dedicated to keeping the Everest region's fragile beauty safe. At the start of our excursion, each person will obtain their own eco-waste bag. Please put all of your rubbish that can't be composted, like snack wrappers, plastic bottles, and batteries, in this bag. Don't leave anything on the trail, please. Instead, take this bag with you as we walk down, and our guides will show you where to find the public trash cans and recycling bins where you can throw it away correctly. We need your help to keep the Himalayas clean and lovely for the next generation.

We are a family firm that has been in the tourism business in Nepal for three generations. We believe that all of our employees and teams are like family because we started as porters and now run an agency. Our professional and experienced guides and Sherpas will be with you the whole time to make sure your trek is safe and memorable. They know how to stay safe in the mountains, rock climb, and do first aid in the bush. They also speak good English. They are from the upper Himalayas, so they know the area well. We take care of their insurance, food, housing, and medical needs when they need them. Please treat our workers like family, and don't hesitate to ask for help or have questions at any time.

We will take you from your hotel to Tribhuvan International Airport so you may catch your trip home. We sincerely hope you had an amazing journey and hope to see you again soon for another trip in Nepal.

Tipping culture

Tipping is a common practice in Nepal. We recommend giving a group tip to your guide at the end of the tour. The amount is up to you and can depend on the quality of service, trip length, your budget, and the overall cost of the trek.
