Manaslu Circuit trek altitude chart and route, Nepal

Updated 4 November 2026.

Short answer: The Manaslu Circuit is a loop around Manaslu. You drive from Kathmandu to Machha Khola (870 m), walk up the Budhi Gandaki valley through Jagat, Deng, Namrung and Samagaun (3,530 m), cross Larkya La (5,160 m) and come down to Bhimtang (3,720 m) and Dharapani. It is a restricted area, so you need a permit and a licensed guide, which we arrange. It costs from USD 825 Budget, USD 1,855 Standard and USD 3,190 Luxury per person for two to four people.

I am Shreejan, and I run The Everest Holiday with my family, three generations of family guides. This is the plan we use on our own 12-day Manaslu Circuit trek. Every height below is taken from our itinerary. Our 12-day Manaslu Circuit trek page has the full inclusions, or message me on WhatsApp at +977 9810351300.

Manaslu Circuit 12-day trek altitude chart: height reached each day

I drew this chart myself from our current itinerary. A missing point means the itinerary gives no height there, and I do not guess. Triangles mark passes and viewpoints. The table below uses the same figures.

What a map does not show

The chart shows the whole story of this trek in one line. You start low, at 870 m, and climb for nine days. The rest day at Samagaun on day 7 is built in so your body can catch up before Samdo and Dharamsala (4,480 m). Day 10 is the one to remember: a 24.7 km walk that takes 8 to 10 hours, up to Larkya La at 5,160 m and then down to Bhimtang at 3,720 m.

Day 11 is long too, 20 km down to Dharapani, and it drops about 1,810 m. Day 1 and day 12 are driving days, about 8 to 10 hours at the start, so a map of the walking alone understates the trip.

Because Manaslu is a restricted area, you must walk with your licensed guide and never apart from him. Permits need about 48 hours in government working days, so please book early.

Best time to walk this route

As with most big Nepal circuits, spring (March to May) and autumn (October to November) are the best seasons. Larkya La can hold snow outside them. See the best time to trek in Nepal.
