Langtang Valley trek altitude chart and route, Nepal

Updated 4 November 2026.

Short answer: The Langtang Valley trek goes up one valley and back. You drive from Kathmandu to Syabrubesi (1,503 m), walk through Lama Hotel (2,470 m) and Langtang village (3,430 m) to Kyanjin Gompa (3,870 m), then return the same way. On our 8-day plan the highest place is Kyanjin Gompa. It costs from USD 425 Budget, USD 1,015 Standard and USD 1,780 Luxury per person for two to four people.

I am Shreejan, and I run The Everest Holiday with my family, three generations of family guides. This is the plan we use on our own 8-day Langtang Valley trek. Heights are taken from our itinerary. Our 8-day Langtang Valley trek page has the full inclusions, or message me on WhatsApp at +977 9810351300.

Langtang Valley 8-day trek altitude chart: height reached each day

I drew this chart myself from our current itinerary. A missing point means the itinerary gives no height there, and I do not guess. Triangles mark passes and viewpoints. The table below uses the same figures.

What a map does not show

This is a there-and-back route, so the chart is a hill with two sides. The climb takes three walking days: 11.3 km to Lama Hotel on day 2, 14.8 km to Langtang village on day 3, and 6.8 km to Kyanjin Gompa on day 4. Day 5 is a day to explore around Kyanjin Gompa without moving your bed.

The way down is quicker. Day 6 is 21 km from Kyanjin Gompa to Lama Hotel, about 7 to 8 hours, which is the longest walk of the trek, and day 7 is 11.3 km to Syabrubesi.

The drives at each end are about 7 to 9 hours. Road conditions can change that, especially in the monsoon.
