Paragliding, bungee or zipline in Pokhara? Compare what each is, how safe, when to go, and how to plan one or two adventure days.

Last updated 10 October 2026.

Short answer: If you have one adventure morning in Pokhara, paragliding is the one I would pick: you launch from Sarangkot at 1,592 m and land by Phewa Lake at 827 m, with the Annapurna range beside you. Bungee at Hemja is an 80 m drop 25 minutes from Lakeside, and the zipline is a ride of under two minutes. We run paragliding and bungee ourselves, and the price for each is on request.

Pokhara has more adventure per square kilometre than anywhere else in Nepal, and visitors often ask me which one to do. I should be honest about what I can speak for. Paragliding and bungee are on our own list, with our own booking terms. The zipline we do not run, so I describe it from what I know and say so. Skydiving, ultralight flights and hot-air balloons I have not run or checked, so I leave them out rather than guess. You can see the paragliding plan on our Paragliding in Pokhara, 1 Day page.

Which is best if you only have one morning?

Paragliding. It is the activity that uses what Pokhara has, a ridge above a lake in front of the Annapurna range. The pilots launch from Sarangkot and land beside Phewa Lake, and you see Annapurna South, Hiunchuli, Machhapuchhre and Annapurna II on the way down when the sky is clear. You need no experience, because you fly tandem with a licensed pilot who handles take-off, steering and landing. The grade is Easy.

For a longer look, read my complete guide to paragliding in Pokhara.

Is paragliding safe?

It is as safe as the pilot and the weather. You are strapped into a tandem harness with a licensed, experienced pilot. We work with pilots who hold APPI tandem certification and who rotate their wings on a fixed schedule. Flights only go ahead in clear air and steady wind. If it is cloudy or gusty, the pilots wait, and if it does not improve the flight is called off for the day. I would rather lose a booking than send someone up in bad air.

The practical tip that follows is to book your flight early in your stay in Pokhara, not on your last morning. If the weather stops you, we move you to the next available slot. November and December can bring crosswinds, so a flight on the first morning leaves you spare days. The weight limit is generally 100 kg, and young children and older people should think about safety before they decide.

What is the bungee like?

The jump is 80 metres from a tower at Hemja, 25 minutes from Pokhara Lakeside, with a swing option instead of the head-first drop for people who want the height without the fall. We offer pick-up from Lakeside, the jump and recovery, a certificate, and GoPro footage on USB as an option. It can be paired with paragliding for a full adrenaline day. Bungee is graded Easy and sits at low altitude, but weight and age limits are set by the operator and can change, so ask us before you come. Our page is Bungee Jumping in Pokhara, 1 Day, and my complete guide to bungee jumping in Nepal covers the other site at Bhote Koshi.

What about the zipline?

The Sarangkot zipline runs from the ridge to Hemja, about 1.8 km, dropping about 600 vertical metres, and the ride takes 1.5 to 2 minutes. You sit upright in a harness. The weight limits are typically 30 to 120 kg and children under 12 are not allowed. I have written up the cost and timing in my guide, is the Pokhara zipline worth it. We do not run it, so I cannot quote you a price or promise how it is operated. If you want it, book it directly with the operator and check their safety record, as you would for any adventure activity.

When is the best time of year?

MonthsWhat it is like
October to NovemberClear, dry and pleasant. The best window.
December to FebruaryCool, clear and quiet. Watch for crosswinds in November and December.
March to AprilWarm and green. Great for views.
June to mid-SeptemberWarm, humid and wet. Flights are often cancelled and the mountains are hidden.

Paragliding runs best from October to April. Mornings give the calmest air and the clearest Annapurna view, so book the early slot.

How do you plan a two-day adventure in Pokhara?

  • Day 1 morning: a sunrise at Sarangkot with our Sarangkot Sunrise and Pokhara Tour, then a boat on Phewa Lake.
  • Day 2 morning: paragliding, with a spare slot if the wind is wrong.
  • Day 2 afternoon: bungee at Hemja, or rest by the lake.

I explain the sunrise choices in my Sarangkot sunrise guide, and the rest of the town in things to do in Pokhara.

How do you get to Pokhara?

Most visitors fly or take a tourist bus from Kathmandu. I compare them in my guide to getting from Kathmandu to Pokhara. Pokhara sits at about 820 m, so altitude is not a concern. Hotel nights in Pokhara are not included in our activity prices, and we can book them for you.

What are the terms?

Group size for paragliding is 2 to 20, and the trip is private. The deposit is 10 per cent and it is non-refundable, with no refund if you cancel. With 72 hours notice you can reschedule free of charge to any date within one year. If the weather stops a flight and there is no slot left before you leave Pokhara, you are refunded, less taxes, bank and card charges and anything already spent on your behalf. The balance is paid in Kathmandu in USD or EUR, cash or by card. Card carries 3.5 per cent and cash carries none. We do not take Nepali rupees from foreign clients. Buy travel insurance at home and check that it covers adventure activities.
