Luxury Everest Base Camp Trek — Private Guides, Best Lodges, Zero Compromise (2026)
Luxury Everest Base Camp Trek -- Private Guides, Best Lodges, Zero Compromise (2026)
You've worked hard. You don't want to share a room with a stranger, eat the same dal bhat every meal, or walk in a line of fifty other trekkers. You want Everest Base Camp done properly -- private, comfortable, and without any of the rough edges.
I'm Shreejan Simkhada, and I design luxury EBC itineraries for travellers who want the mountain experience without the backpacker experience. Here's how we do it.
What "Luxury" Actually Means at 5,000 Metres
Let's be honest: there are no five-star hotels on the trail to Everest Base Camp. Above 3,500 metres, you're sleeping in teahouses -- stone lodges with basic rooms, shared bathrooms, and wood-burning stoves in the dining room. That's the reality for everyone, including the people paying $10,000.
But within that reality, there is a significant difference between the worst room in the cheapest lodge and the best room in the best lodge. Our Premium package ensures you always get the latter.
What Our Premium Tier Includes
-
Private rooms throughout -- no sharing with strangers. We book the best-available rooms at each stop, including lodges with attached bathrooms where available (Namche, Tengboche)
-
Private departure -- your guide, your porter, your schedule. No waiting for slower group members. No compromising on rest days
-
4-star Kathmandu hotel -- proper comfort before and after the trek
-
Expanded meal options -- not just dal bhat. Our guide ensures you get the best food each lodge offers, including fresh baked goods at the better teahouses
-
Helicopter return option -- skip the descent and fly back from Gorak Shep or Lukla, saving 3-4 days of walking the same trail in reverse
The Helicopter Return -- Our Most Popular Luxury Option
After reaching Everest Base Camp and watching sunrise from Kala Patthar, many luxury trekkers prefer not to walk back down the same trail for four days. Our EBC with Helicopter Return (10 Days) package solves this perfectly.
You trek up at the proper pace with full acclimatisation, then fly back from Lukla or Gorak Shep (weather permitting) with dramatic aerial views of the Khumbu Icefall, Ama Dablam, and the entire Everest massif. The helicopter flight takes 30-45 minutes versus 3-4 days of walking.
For travellers with limited time or those who simply want to end on a high note (literally), the helicopter return is transformative.
Add Gokyo Lakes -- The Luxury Extension
If you have 15 days instead of 12, our EBC with Gokyo Lakes via Chola Pass (15 Days) adds the stunning turquoise Gokyo Lakes and a sunrise climb of Gokyo Ri (5,357m) to your itinerary. You see everything the standard EBC trek offers, plus the lakes, plus a second panoramic viewpoint that many experienced trekkers rate higher than Kala Patthar.
The Gokyo extension passes through quieter trails with fewer trekkers, making it feel more exclusive -- which, for luxury travellers, is often the point.

Why Luxury Trekkers Choose Us Over Larger Companies
The big international operators (Intrepid, G Adventures, World Expeditions) charge $3,000-5,000 for EBC treks. Here's what that extra money buys: their London office rent, their Google Ads budget, and their 30% platform commissions. Your guide on the ground is a local Nepali hired by a local subcontractor -- often the same guides we employ directly.
When you book with The Everest Holiday:
-
You talk directly to me, the person who designed the itinerary
-
Your guide works for us year-round, not as a freelancer hired for one trip
-
Your money stays in Nepal, supporting local families and our charity work with the Nagarjun Learning Center
-
You pay 40-60% less for an equal or better experience
We have 320+ verified reviews across TripAdvisor (4.9 stars), Google (4.9 stars), and Trustpilot. We're a TripAdvisor Travellers' Choice winner. We're not asking you to take a risk -- we're asking you to read what other travellers say about us.
