Can you take a helicopter back from Everest Base Camp?

After reaching Everest Base Camp and watching sunrise from Kala Patthar, many luxury trekkers prefer not to walk back down the same trail for four days. Our EBC with Helicopter Return (10 Days) package solves this perfectly.

You trek up at the proper pace with full acclimatisation, then fly back from Lukla or Gorak Shep (weather permitting) with dramatic aerial views of the Khumbu Icefall, Ama Dablam, and the entire Everest massif. The helicopter flight takes 30-45 minutes versus 3-4 days of walking.

For travellers with limited time or those who simply want to end on a high note (literally), the helicopter return is life-changing.

Can you add Gokyo Lakes to the Everest Base Camp trek?

If you have 15 days instead of 12, our EBC with Gokyo Lakes via Cho La (15 Days) adds the vivid turquoise Gokyo Lakes and a sunrise climb of Gokyo Ri (5,357m) to your itinerary. You see everything the standard EBC trek offers, plus the lakes, plus a second panoramic viewpoint that many experienced trekkers rate higher than Kala Patthar.

The Gokyo extension passes through quieter trails with fewer trekkers, making it feel more exclusive, which, for luxury travellers, is often the point.

How much does a luxury Everest Base Camp trek cost?

A luxury Everest Base Camp trek with us costs from US$4,999 per person for the 12-day trip. That covers one to four trekkers, and there is no single supplement, so a solo traveller also pays $4,999. It eases to $4,949 for five to eight people, $4,899 for nine to twelve and $4,849 for larger groups. What the $4,999 buys over Standard: a round-trip helicopter between Kathmandu and Lukla, your own porter instead of one shared between two, the best private rooms with an attached bathroom where the lodge has one, and all meals with fresh fruit, nuts, tea, coffee, juice and soft drinks. Every tier gets the same Sagarmatha National Park, Khumbu Pasang Lhamu and TIMS permits, the same free down jacket, sleeping bag and duffel, and a data SIM.

What it does not include: international flights, your Nepal visa, tips, alcohol, and your Kathmandu hotel before and after the trek, which we book to your taste and quote separately.

Luxury Everest Base Camp in 2027

Our published trek prices hold for 2027 departures. Helicopter rates are set by the operators each season and can move, so we confirm the heli figure when you book. Luxury lodges on the corridor have far fewer rooms than teahouses and they fill first: for October 2027 or April 2027, six months ahead is comfortable and three is tight.
