Can You Join a Group Trek in Nepal in 2027? Fixed Departure Dates and How They Work
Last updated 15 October 2026.
Short answer: Yes. For 2027 I list fixed departure dates on the package pages for Everest Base Camp, Annapurna Base Camp, the Annapurna Circuit and several other treks. Most start on a Monday: 8 to 29 March, 5 to 26 April, 6 to 27 September, 4, 18 and 25 October, and 1 to 22 November. In May they start on Wednesdays (5, 12, 19 and 26 May). The price is the same as a private trip: Budget from USD 1,399 for the 12-day Everest Base Camp Trek, USD 725 for Annapurna Base Camp and USD 1,175 for the Annapurna Circuit, per person, for two to four people. Joining a date is your choice. If nobody else books it, I run it for you privately and the price does not change.
I am Shreejan. People write to me every week asking if there is a group they can join, usually because they are travelling alone or want company on the trail. This page is what I tell them. The dates and prices are the ones I read on our live package pages on 15 October 2026.
Which group departure dates can you book in 2027?
The table shows the treks where the package page has dated departures for 2027. The price is the Budget price per person for two to four people from the live package page. Standard and Luxury cost more and are on each page.
| Trek | Days | Budget, from | Dates listed for 2027 |
|---|---|---|---|
| Everest Base Camp Trek | 12 | USD 1,399 | 23 dates: March, April, May, September, October, November |
| Annapurna Base Camp | 9 | USD 725 | The same 23 dates |
| Annapurna Circuit | 12 | USD 1,175 | The same 23 dates |
| Gokyo Valley Lakes | 10 | USD 1,225 | The same 23 dates |
| Poon Hill | 6 | USD 499 | The same 23 dates |
| Mardi Himal | 7 | USD 454 | The same 23 dates |
| Everest Three Passes | 17 | USD 1,499 | The same 23 dates |
| Annapurna Circuit with Tilicho Lake | 16 | USD 1,495 | 8 dates: 5 to 26 April, 5 to 26 May |
| Everest Base Camp with Gokyo Ri | 15 | USD 1,699 | 8 dates: 5 to 26 April, 5 to 26 May |
| Everest View Trek | 7 | USD 1,565 | 4 dates: 10 and 24 April (Saturdays), 10 and 24 May (Mondays) |
| Upper Mustang | 10 | USD 1,290 | 19 dates: March, April, May, September, October, November |
Every listed date shows its status as Open.
Upper Mustang is a restricted area, so permits are arranged through us with a licensed guide. If you move your dates there, I need seven days notice, not 72 hours. The page also warns that the Tiji festival falls on 1 to 3 June 2027 and that Upper Mustang lodges fill a year ahead.
What do the 2027 start dates look like month by month?
This is the pattern I read from the departure list, with my own view of each month. The Everest dates are the ones that matter most for flights, because the Lukla flight leaves from Manthali (Ramechhap) in the busy weeks. My guide to Ramechhap versus Lukla explains that day.
| Month | Start dates listed | My view |
|---|---|---|
| March | Mondays 8, 15, 22, 29 | Clear, cold at night. The Everest dates from 15 March carry the Manthali note |
| April | Mondays 5, 12, 19, 26 | A good month. More afternoon cloud |
| May | Wednesdays 5, 12, 19, 26 | Early May only, as in my other guides |
| June to August | None | Monsoon. I do not list group dates for it |
| September | Mondays 6, 13, 20, 27 | Late September only, with spare days. The 27th is the one I would choose |
| October | Mondays 4, 18, 25 | The best month and the busiest. The 4th overlaps Dashain, expected around 6 to 10 October 2027 |
| November | Mondays 1, 8, 15, 22 | Clearest views in the first half |
There is no 11 October start in the list. For a week that is not listed, message me and I will plan it. For the best weeks in detail, read my Everest Base Camp month-by-month guide and spring 2027 planning guide.
What happens if you book a group date and nobody else does?
You still trek, on that date, with your own guide. I do not cancel a listed departure because the numbers are low, and I do not merge separate private bookings. So a fixed date is not a promise of company. It is a date I have planned around, and it is the quickest way to book if the week suits you.
If you want company, say so when you write to me. I can tell you honestly whether anyone else is booked on that date and happy to share the trail. If they are, you both choose it. If not, you walk privately and pay the same price per person. Solo travellers ask me this most, and my guide to private or group treks covers the trade-offs.
How much does a group trek cost per person in 2027?
Private and group cost the same per person. What changes the price is how many are in your own party: one to four, five to eight, nine to twelve, or thirteen to twenty. If you join a listed date as a couple, you pay the two-to-four price. Other trekkers on that date do not lower it.
| Standard, per person | Solo | 2 to 4 | 5 to 8 | 9 to 12 | 13 to 20 |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Everest Base Camp, 12 days | USD 2,499 | USD 2,499 | USD 2,449 | USD 2,399 | USD 2,349 |
| Annapurna Base Camp, 9 days | USD 1,725 | USD 1,310 | USD 1,130 | USD 1,080 | USD 1,060 |
| Annapurna Circuit, 12 days | USD 2,915 | USD 2,030 | USD 1,740 | USD 1,705 | USD 1,690 |
On the Everest trek the price for one to four people is the same, because your guide joins you from Lukla and there is no single supplement. For Budget on the same trek, it falls from USD 1,399 to USD 1,299, USD 1,199 and USD 999 as your party grows. Luxury is USD 4,999 down to USD 4,849.
If you bring your own group of fourteen or more paying trekkers on a Nepal trek, the person who organised it treks free and pays only their own flights and permits. My guide to organising a group trek to Everest Base Camp explains how that works.
What do Budget, Standard and Luxury include on a group date?
The tiers are the same on a private trip and a group date. Budget has no porter, so you carry your own bag. Trail meals are not included, and rooms are shared. Standard has all meals, private rooms and one porter for every two trekkers. Luxury has a dedicated porter each, private deluxe ensuite rooms, all meals with fruit and nuts and unlimited soft drinks, and a round-trip helicopter to Lukla on Everest-region treks.
A solo Luxury trekker still has their own porter. A solo Standard trekker has no porter, because porters are shared between two, so the guide carries up to 10 kg of your bag. Budget never has a porter. An extra porter is USD 25 a day plus 13 per cent VAT and the 3.5 per cent bank charge. Kathmandu hotels are not included in any trek tier. Our family homestay is USD 15 per person a night.
Should you join a fixed date or choose your own?
| If you are... | Choose | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Travelling alone and want company | A listed date | Ask me who else has booked it |
| A couple or a family | Either | The price is the same. A listed date is simply quicker to book |
| Tied to school holidays or a flight home | Your own date | I run one trekker on any date |
| Planning for 13 to 20 friends or colleagues | Your own date | You get the lowest per-person price and I plan around you |
| Wanting an 11 October start or another unlisted week | Your own date | Message me with the week |
Booking early helps either way. For autumn I would book two to three months ahead, and six to eight weeks for spring, because Lukla seats and beds at Lobuche and Gorak Shep go first. My booking lead-time guide gives the reasons.
What about the roads for the Annapurna dates?
As of 14 October 2026, I was told the Besisahar to Chame road and the Beni to Jomsom road are repaired and open to vehicles. We check the road 48 hours before every Annapurna departure. If a road is not open, I move your date free of charge.
Do you need insurance?
Yes. Buy it at home, not in Nepal. It should cover trekking and helicopter rescue to the right height: 5,500 m for the Annapurna Circuit (Thorong La) and for the Everest Base Camp trek. I advise against buying cover in Nepal.
Questions people ask
Can I join a group trek in Nepal as a solo traveller? Yes. Book a listed date and tell me you would like company. Solo is welcome on every trek, and on the Everest trek there is no single supplement.
What are the group departure dates for Everest Base Camp in 2027? Mondays 8, 15, 22 and 29 March, Mondays 5, 12, 19 and 26 April, Wednesdays 5, 12, 19 and 26 May, Mondays 6, 13, 20 and 27 September, 4, 18 and 25 October, and 1, 8, 15 and 22 November.
How many people are in a group? Your own party can be 1 to 20. I do not add strangers to your booking. If you choose to share a date with other travellers, I tell you who and how many first.
Is a group trek cheaper than a private trek? No. The per-person price is the same, and it depends on the size of your own party. A couple pays less per person than a solo trekker on most treks.
What if only I book a fixed departure? I run it for you privately, with your guide, at the same price. The deposit and terms are the same as for any booking.
Can I book a date that is not on the list? Yes. I run a trek on your date for even one person. Message me with your dates.
When should I book a 2027 group date? Two to three months ahead for autumn and six to eight weeks for spring. The Lukla flight and mountain beds go first on the Everest dates.
What are the terms for this trek?
Group size is 1 to 20, and you can also trek solo. The deposit is 10 per cent and it is non-refundable, with no refund if you cancel. You can reschedule free of charge with at least 72 hours notice to any date within one year (7 days for Upper Mustang and other restricted areas). The balance is paid on arrival in Kathmandu in USD or EUR, cash or by card. Card carries 3.5 per cent and cash in Kathmandu carries none. We do not take Nepali rupees from foreign clients.
