Why Bangladeshi Trekkers Are Booking Direct with a Nepali Family Company
Bangladesh and Nepal are neighbours in every sense. The cultures overlap, the food is familiar, and the distance is short. But while Bangladesh is flat, Nepal has the highest mountains on earth. For Bangladeshi adventure lovers, the Himalayas are the closest world-class trekking destination, and getting there is easier than most people realise.
Here's what makes it even better: Bangladeshi citizens don't need a visa for Nepal. You can fly from Dhaka in the morning and be walking through Kathmandu by afternoon. And if you book directly with The Everest Holiday instead of through a Dhaka-based tour operator, you'll save serious money.
Book directly with us and you'll pay 40-60% less than a Bangladeshi agency would charge for the same trek. We are the company that actually runs it on the ground.

Getting to Kathmandu from Bangladesh
Dhaka to Kathmandu is one of the shortest international flights in the region. Direct flights operate regularly, and the journey is quick and affordable.
| From | Route | Airlines | Flight Time | Cost (Return, BDT) |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Dhaka (DAC) | Direct | Biman Bangladesh, Nepal Airlines, Himalaya Airlines | 1 hr 30 min | 18,000-35,000 |
| Dhaka (DAC) | Via Delhi (DEL) | IndiGo, Air India | 4-6 hrs | 22,000-40,000 |
| Chittagong (CGP) | Via Dhaka (DAC) | Biman + Nepal Airlines | 3-5 hrs | 25,000-42,000 |
Pro tip: The direct Dhaka-Kathmandu flight is by far the best option. Book 4-6 weeks ahead for the best prices. Biman Bangladesh and Nepal Airlines both operate regular direct services. Peak season (October-November) fills up fast, so book early.
Visa Information for Bangladeshi Citizens
Great news: Bangladeshi citizens do not need a visa to enter Nepal. This is one of the biggest advantages of trekking in Nepal from Bangladesh.
- No visa required — Bangladesh is one of the few countries with visa-free entry to Nepal
- Duration: Up to 30 days visa-free on each visit
- Documents needed: Valid Bangladeshi passport (at least 6 months validity) and 2 passport-size photos for TIMS registration
- Entry points: Tribhuvan International Airport (Kathmandu) or land border crossings
The process at the airport is straightforward. Show your passport, get your entry stamp, and you're in. No forms, no fees, no waiting. It's one of the easiest international arrivals you'll ever experience.
Best Months to Trek from Bangladesh
- October-November: The best weather window. Clear skies, stable temperatures, spectacular mountain views. This is peak season, so book early. Perfect for Everest Base Camp and Annapurna.
- March-May: Spring brings warmer temperatures and rhododendron forests in full bloom. Slightly more cloud in the afternoons but excellent trekking conditions. Great for Langtang and Poon Hill.
- December-February: Cold but clear at lower altitudes. Fewer crowds, lower prices. Good for Poon Hill and Mardi Himal. Not recommended for Everest Base Camp or Manaslu unless experienced in cold conditions.
- June-September (Monsoon): Both Bangladesh and Nepal experience monsoon during this period. Avoid for most treks. Exception: Upper Mustang and Dolpo, which sit in a rain shadow area.
For Bangladeshi professionals: The Eid holidays often align well with trekking windows. Combine Eid leave with a few days of annual leave for a 10-14 day trek. The Victory Day holiday in December can work for shorter winter treks like Poon Hill.
From the Plains to the Peaks: What to Expect
Bangladesh is one of the flattest countries on earth. The highest point, Keokradong, is just 986m. This means the altitude change will be the most significant adjustment for Bangladeshi trekkers. But with proper preparation and our carefully designed itineraries, thousands of flat-country trekkers have successfully reached Everest Base Camp.
- Altitude is the key challenge. Dhaka is at 4m above sea level. Everest Base Camp is 5,364m. This is a massive change, and your body needs time to adjust. Fitness alone does not prevent altitude sickness. Our itineraries include acclimatisation days, and our guides monitor your oxygen levels daily.
- Training is essential. Start walking on stairs and inclines 8-12 weeks before your trek. If you don't have hills nearby, stair climbing in your apartment building or at the gym works well. Aim for 5-7 hours of walking endurance.
- The food will feel familiar. Dal bhat (rice, lentils, vegetables) is the staple on every trail. It's essentially the same concept as dal-bhaat in Bangladesh, with unlimited refills. Momos, noodle soups, and egg dishes are also available.
- Teahouse accommodation. Simple twin rooms, shared bathrooms, warm blankets. More basic than city hotels but clean and adequate. Standard and Luxury tiers get you the best available rooms and private facilities where they exist.
- Porters carry your gear. Your porter carries up to 15kg. You walk with just a daypack containing water, camera, and snacks.
- You have a licensed guide. Since 2023, Nepal law requires all trekkers to have a licensed guide. Our guides are government-trained, carry pulse oximeters, and know the trails intimately.

What Bangladeshi Trekkers Need to Know
Permits
All trekking permits are included in our package price. You need: TIMS card (Trekkers' Information Management System) plus National Park or Conservation Area entry permit. For restricted areas (Manaslu, Upper Mustang, Dolpo), a special restricted area permit is required. We handle everything.
Currency
Nepal uses Nepali Rupees (NPR). Exchange BDT or USD at the airport or in Kathmandu. ATMs in Kathmandu and Pokhara accept Visa and Mastercard. Carry cash for the trail as there are no ATMs above Namche Bazaar (Everest region) or Chame (Annapurna region). Budget approximately BDT 1,000-1,500 per day for personal expenses on the trail.
Mobile and Internet
Buy an NCell SIM card at Kathmandu airport (approximately BDT 500 with data pack). It works on most of the trail up to Namche Bazaar and Dingboche. Your Grameenphone or Robi SIM will not work in Nepal without international roaming (expensive and unreliable). Wi-Fi is available at most teahouses for NPR 200-500 per session.
Language
While Bangla and Nepali are different languages, the cultural overlap makes communication easy. Many Nepali words will sound familiar, and our guides speak English fluently. In Kathmandu and Pokhara, Hindi is widely understood, which many Bangladeshi travellers also speak. You will not face language barriers.
Cold Weather Preparation
This is particularly important for Bangladeshi trekkers coming from a tropical climate. At sea level in Dhaka, you rarely experience temperatures below 10°C. At Everest Base Camp, night temperatures drop to -15°C or colder. Invest in proper cold-weather gear: down jacket, thermal base layers, fleece, warm hat, and gloves. You can buy or rent good-quality gear affordably in Kathmandu's Thamel district.
Altitude Sickness
Coming from near sea level, altitude sickness is the biggest risk. Dhaka is at 4m. Everest Base Camp is 5,364m. Your body needs gradual adjustment. Our guides carry pulse oximeters and monitor your oxygen levels daily. We build acclimatisation days into every itinerary. If symptoms appear, we descend immediately. Many Bangladeshi trekkers have successfully completed high-altitude treks with proper preparation.
Insurance
Travel insurance with helicopter evacuation cover is mandatory for all trekkers. Check that your policy covers trekking above 5,000m and helicopter rescue. World Nomads and SafetyWing offer policies for Bangladeshi passport holders. Cost: approximately USD 50-80 (BDT 5,500-8,800) for two weeks. We require confirmation before departure.

Frequently Asked Questions — Bangladeshi Trekkers
Do Bangladeshi citizens need a visa for Nepal?
No. Bangladeshi citizens enter Nepal visa-free for up to 30 days. Just bring your valid passport. No fees, no forms. It's one of the easiest international borders you'll ever cross.
Do I need a guide to trek in Nepal?
Yes. Since 2023, Nepal law requires all trekkers to have a licensed guide. Our guides are Nepal government trained and licensed, and several hold Bachelor's degrees in Mountaineering.
Can I handle high altitude coming from sea level?
Yes, with proper preparation. Thousands of trekkers from sea-level countries successfully reach Everest Base Camp every year. The key is gradual ascent and acclimatisation days, which are built into all our itineraries. Start fitness training 8-12 weeks before and focus on cardio and stair climbing.
How fit do I need to be?
You should be able to walk 5-7 hours daily on inclines. Since Bangladesh is flat, train on stairs: climb 30-50 flights daily for 8-12 weeks before your trek. Gym treadmill on maximum incline also works. No mountaineering skills needed for standard treks.
Can I trek solo or do I need a group?
All our treks are private. You don't join a group. It's just you, your guide, and your porter. Solo trekkers, couples, families, and friend groups all welcome. Minimum 1 person, maximum 20.
Is the food similar to Bangladeshi food?
Quite similar. Dal bhat (rice, lentils, vegetables with pickle) is the main trail meal with unlimited refills. It's essentially the same concept as Bangladeshi dal-bhaat. Momos (steamed dumplings) are also popular. Vegetarian and non-vegetarian options available at every stop. You'll feel more at home with the food than trekkers from most other countries.
What if I get altitude sickness?
Our guides are trained in altitude sickness prevention and carry pulse oximeters. We monitor your oxygen levels twice daily above 3,000m. If serious symptoms appear, we descend immediately and coordinate helicopter evacuation if needed. Travel insurance with helicopter cover is mandatory.
How do I book?
Choose your trek, pick your tier (Budget/Standard/Luxury), and pay a 10% deposit online through our secure Himalayan Bank payment gateway. The remaining balance is due before your trek starts. Or simply WhatsApp Shreejan directly and we'll plan everything together.
