Nepal Trekking for Couples — Honeymoon Treks, Anniversary Adventures, and Romantic Escapes
Forget the beach resort. Forget the crowded cruise ship. If you and your partner want an adventure that'll bond you in ways a poolside cocktail never could, there's nothing quite like trekking the Himalayas together.
Imagine watching the sunrise over Annapurna with the person you love most. No crowds, no noise — just the two of you, your guide, a flask of hot tea, and the highest mountains on earth turning gold. That's what a couples trek with The Everest Holiday looks like.
Why Couples Choose Nepal
Nepal is one of the few places on earth where you can have a genuinely private adventure in one of the most dramatic landscapes imaginable. Here's why couples keep choosing the Himalayas over traditional holiday destinations:
- Complete privacy — Our treks are private. It's just you two, your guide, and your porter. No group dynamics. No compromising with strangers. Your pace, your schedule, your adventure.
- Shared challenge — There's something about climbing a mountain together that strips away the everyday noise. No phones buzzing, no emails, no distractions. Just you two, one foot in front of the other, supporting each other.
- Spectacular settings — Sunrise over 8,000m peaks, starlit skies at altitude, hot springs surrounded by snow-capped mountains. Nepal delivers romance that no resort can match.
- Affordable luxury — A two-week Himalayan adventure costs less than a week at most luxury beach resorts. And the memories? Incomparable.
- Kathmandu before and after — Nepal's capital offers rooftop dinners overlooking temple squares, golden-hour walks around Boudhanath stupa, and boutique hotels in converted Newari palaces.
Best Treks for Couples
Poon Hill Trek — 5 Days (Easy and Romantic)
The ideal couples trek if one or both of you haven't trekked before. Five days is manageable, the trail is well-maintained, and the payoff is extraordinary. You walk through charming Gurung villages, eat dal bhat in cosy teahouses, and watch the most famous sunrise in Nepal from Poon Hill (3,210m).
The romantic moment: Standing together at Poon Hill at 5:30am as the sun hits Annapurna South, Dhaulagiri, and Machhapuchhre. The entire Himalayan panorama turns from purple to pink to gold. Couples who see this together don't forget it.
Best for: Honeymoons, first-time trekkers, anniversary trips where you want beauty without extreme challenge.

Mardi Himal Trek — 6 Days (Quiet and Intimate)
Nepal's newest trail, and one of its quietest. The Mardi Himal trek follows a ridgeline with close-up views of Machhapuchhre (Fishtail): one of the most beautiful mountains in the Himalayas. Because it's relatively new, you'll see far fewer trekkers than on the Annapurna or Everest trails.
The romantic moment: Walking the high ridge with Fishtail towering above you, the trail feeling like it belongs to just the two of you. At night, the absence of light pollution means you'll see more stars than you've ever seen in your lives.
Best for: Couples who want something quieter and more private. Six days is a sweet spot: long enough to feel like a real adventure, short enough to combine with Kathmandu and Pokhara.

Langtang Valley Trek — 8 Days (Intimate and Cultural)
The Langtang Valley feels like a hidden world. It's the closest major trek to Kathmandu, which means less travel time and more trail time. The valley is home to the Tamang people, whose warm hospitality makes you feel like an honoured guest rather than a tourist.
The romantic moment: Sitting outside a Tamang teahouse in the evening, wrapped in blankets, watching Langtang Lirung (7,227m) glow in the last light of the day. The valley is quiet. The mountains are enormous. The person next to you is the only one who matters.
Best for: Couples who value cultural experiences alongside natural beauty. Eight days gives you time to truly slow down and connect: with each other and with the place.

Annapurna Base Camp Trek — 10 Days (Challenging Together)
If you want a real adventure as a couple, ABC delivers. Ten days through rice terraces, bamboo forests, and alpine meadows to the amphitheatre of Annapurna (8,091m). The highlight for many couples is the natural hot springs at Jhinu Danda: soaking tired muscles in steaming water surrounded by jungle and mountains.
The romantic moment: The hot springs at Jhinu Danda. After days of walking, you lower yourselves into naturally heated water with a river rushing below and mountains above. It's possibly the most romantic bath on earth.
Best for: Active couples who want a proper challenge and a sense of shared achievement. Moderate fitness required.
Everest Base Camp Trek — 12 Days (The Ultimate Shared Achievement)
Standing at 5,364m together. Looking up at the Khumbu Icefall. Knowing you did this as a team. EBC is the ultimate couples trek for those who want a challenge that'll define their relationship. It's hard, it's cold, and it's the most rewarding thing you'll ever do together.
The romantic moment: Kala Patthar (5,545m) at sunrise. You climb in the dark, cold and breathless, and then the sun rises over Everest. You're standing at the highest point you've ever been, together. Many couples who do this tell us it was the most emotional moment of their relationship.
Best for: Fit, adventurous couples who want a story they'll tell for the rest of their lives.
What Couples Love About Trekking Nepal
Sunrise together at Poon Hill
Wake at 4:30am, climb the stone steps in the dark, and watch 300km of Himalayan peaks light up as the sun rises. You'll hold hands without thinking about it. This moment alone is worth the trip.
Stargazing at altitude
Above 3,000m, there's almost no light pollution. The Milky Way is visible with the naked eye. Step outside your teahouse after dinner and look up: the sky is extraordinary. Bring a mat, lie down, and just look.
Hot springs at Jhinu Danda
Natural hot springs on the ABC trail. After days of trekking, soak in steaming water with mountains all around. It's rustic, it's real, and it's blissful. Available on the Annapurna Base Camp trek.
Kathmandu together
Before or after your trek, Kathmandu offers romance of a different kind. Rooftop dinners overlooking Boudhanath stupa at sunset. Morning walks through Patan Durbar Square. Shopping for pashmina and Tibetan jewellery in Thamel. Boutique hotels in converted Newari buildings with carved wooden windows and courtyard gardens.
Digital detox
Wi-Fi gets weaker as you climb higher. By Day 3, you'll have stopped checking your phone. By Day 5, you won't want to. Couples consistently tell us that the forced digital detox was one of the best parts of the trek: they talked more in one week on the trail than they had in months at home.

Honeymoon and Anniversary Add-Ons
Tell us you're celebrating and we'll make it special:
- Cake at altitude: We can arrange a cake at your teahouse on a special night. It won't be a five-tier masterpiece, but a chocolate cake at 4,000m with candles and mountain views? Unforgettable.
- Best room in the house: Your guide will always secure the best available room at every teahouse. On the Luxury tier, this means attached bathrooms and mountain-view windows wherever possible.
- Pokhara lakeside extension: Add 2-3 days at Pokhara for lakeside relaxation, paragliding over Phewa Lake, or a sunrise boat ride with Annapurna reflected in the water.
- Kathmandu romantic evening: We can arrange a rooftop dinner at a restaurant overlooking Boudhanath stupa. Sunset, candles, Nepali cuisine, and the white dome of the stupa glowing below.

Frequently Asked Questions — Couples Trekking Nepal
Can we get a private room at teahouses?
Yes. Teahouses offer private twin rooms as standard. On the Budget and Standard tiers, rooms are simple but private: a twin bed, a door, and sometimes a mountain view. On the Luxury tier, rooms are the best available at each stop. Your guide books rooms in advance so you're guaranteed a room together at every teahouse.
Is Nepal good for a honeymoon?
It's extraordinary for a honeymoon: if you're the kind of couple who'd rather share a sunset at 4,000m than sit by a hotel pool. A Himalayan honeymoon gives you privacy, adventure, natural beauty beyond anything a resort can offer, and a shared experience that bonds you for life. Many of our couples tell us their Nepal trek was the best decision of their honeymoon.
What if one of us is fitter than the other?
Very common, and not a problem. Our guides set the pace for the slower walker: there's no rush and no pressure. The trail is not a race. Many couples find that the one who was nervous about fitness ends up enjoying it most, because the pace is gentle and the scenery is so distracting you forget you're climbing.
Can we extend our trip with time in Kathmandu or Pokhara?
Absolutely. Most couples add 2-3 days in Kathmandu before the trek and 2-3 days in Pokhara afterwards. Kathmandu offers temple visits, rooftop dining, and cultural tours. Pokhara is Nepal's lakeside paradise: paragliding, boat rides, and relaxation. We can arrange accommodation, tours, and transfers for any extension.
What if one of us gets altitude sickness?
Our guides carry pulse oximeters and monitor both of you daily above 3,000m. If either of you shows serious symptoms, we descend immediately: no debate. In rare cases where one partner needs to descend and the other wants to continue, we can split the team (your guide stays with the descending partner, and we arrange an additional guide for the other). Safety always comes first.
Is it safe to trek during pregnancy?
We strongly advise against trekking above 3,000m during pregnancy due to altitude risks and limited medical facilities. For early pregnancy, a low-altitude trek like Poon Hill (max 3,210m) may be possible with your doctor's written approval, but this is a conversation to have with your GP first, not with us. We would never pressure you either way.
How do we book as a couple?
WhatsApp Shreejan on +977 9810351300 or email info@theeverestholiday.com. Tell us your dates, your preferred trek, and your tier (Budget/Standard/Luxury). We'll send you a detailed itinerary within 24 hours. Pay a 10% deposit to confirm your booking. If you're celebrating something special, honeymoon, anniversary, birthday, tell us and we'll add thoughtful touches.
What's included in the price?
All permits (TIMS, national park, conservation area), licensed guide, porter (1 porter per 2 trekkers), all accommodation, meals (Standard and Luxury tiers), ground transport from Kathmandu, and airport transfers. International flights, Nepal visa, travel insurance, and personal expenses are not included.
Do we need travel insurance?
Yes: mandatory for both of you. Your insurance must cover helicopter evacuation and medical treatment at altitude. We require confirmation before departure. Make sure your policy covers adventure activities and high-altitude trekking.
