Four days for all seven UNESCO World Heritage sites of the Kathmandu Valley: how the days run, what each tier includes, what to wear and the cost.

Last updated 16 October 2026.

Short answer: Our Kathmandu Valley Heritage Tour, 4 days takes you to all seven UNESCO World Heritage monument zones in the valley: Swayambhunath, Kathmandu Durbar Square, Pashupatinath, Boudhanath, Bhaktapur, Changunarayan and Patan, with a licensed guide, a private vehicle and three hotel nights. It costs USD 440 per person on Budget, USD 640 on Standard and USD 1,140 on Luxury for two to four people. It suits first-time visitors who want to understand Kathmandu properly before or after a trek.

I am Shreejan. I grew up in this valley. Most visitors rush three temples in one afternoon and miss what makes each place different. Four days lets you see all seven sites without hurrying.

When is the best time?

MonthsWhat to expect
September to NovemberClear, festival season, comfortable days
December and JanuaryCool, hazy mornings, quiet sites
February to MayWarm and bright, with spring festivals
June to AugustHot and wet; the tour still runs

What should you wear?

Comfortable shoes for cobbles and steps, and clothes that cover your shoulders and knees at temples. Shoes come off at some entrances, and leather is not allowed inside a few Hindu temples. Only Hindus may enter the main temple at Pashupatinath; everyone can watch from the terraces across the river.

Is it good with children or older travellers?

Yes. There is no altitude and no long walking, and the private vehicle waits for you. Tell us about anyone with limited mobility so we can plan the order of the day.

What insurance do you need?

There is no altitude on this tour, so a normal travel policy with medical treatment and evacuation is enough. Buy it at home before you travel. We do not recommend insurance bought in Nepal.

Questions people ask

Can I do it in one or two days instead? Yes. Our day tours split the valley up: see which Kathmandu day tour to book.

Can I add it to a trek? Yes. Most guests do it before or after a trek. Tell us your trek dates and we fit it around them.

Is the guide licensed? Yes, a government-licensed guide on every tier, and a heritage specialist on Luxury.

Can a solo traveller book it? Yes. The solo price covers your own room, guide and vehicle.

What are the booking terms?

Group size is 1 to 20 and solo travellers are welcome; a solo price covers your own room and your own guide, so it is higher per person. The deposit is 10 per cent. It is non-refundable and there is no refund if you cancel, but you can move your trip free of charge to any date within one year with at least 72 hours notice. The balance is paid when you arrive in Kathmandu, in US dollars or euros, cash or card. Card carries a 3.5 per cent bank charge and cash carries none. We do not take Nepali rupees from foreign guests.
