Everest Base Camp trek cost from Lithuania: trek prices in dollars and euros, Vilnius to Kathmandu fares and journey times, the visa, paying in euros and the best month.

Last updated 16 October 2026.

Short answer: From Lithuania, the 12 days on our Everest Base Camp Trek, 12 days cost USD 1,399 per person on Budget, USD 2,785 on Standard and USD 4,999 on Luxury for two to four people. Lithuania uses the euro, so that is roughly EUR 1,250, EUR 2,232 and EUR 4,465 at the ECB reference rate of 14 October 2026 (1 USD = 0.89326 EUR). The cheapest return from Vilnius with a checked bag that I could find for April 2027 was EUR 952. Add the USD 50 visa and, on Budget, your meals on the trail, and one person should plan on about EUR 2,400 to 2,500 before Kathmandu hotels, insurance and tips.

I am Shreejan, and I run The Everest Holiday in Kathmandu. My sister Shradha lives in Finland and is our Europe contact, and the questions travellers from the Baltic side of Europe ask are practical: how many changes, how long the door-to-door journey is, whether euros work for the balance, and when to go. This page answers those, with the numbers I checked this week.

What does the Everest Base Camp trek cost in euros from Lithuania?

The dollar figure is the real price. The euro column is only a guide, and you can settle the balance in either currency. If you travel alone, the Budget price for one person is USD 2,275, because nobody shares your room or your guide. Standard and Luxury are the same for one person as for two to four. Remember what the tiers mean. Budget has no porter, so you carry your own bag, and you sleep in shared rooms. Standard gives you a private room, all meals and one porter for every two trekkers, who carries 10 kg for each of you. Luxury gives you your own porter, who carries up to 15 kg, deluxe rooms where they exist, and a helicopter between Kathmandu and Lukla in both directions. Kathmandu hotels are not part of any trek tier, so I book them separately at whatever level you like.

How do you fly from Vilnius to Kathmandu?

There is no direct flight, and Kaunas has nothing useful to Nepal either. I searched on 16 October 2026 for one adult in economy with one checked bag, leaving Vilnius between 2 and 8 April 2027 and coming back between 19 and 25 April.

Fare foundOutboundReturn
EUR 952Vilnius, Warsaw, Delhi, Kathmandu with LOT and Air India. Leaves 4 April at 14:30, lands 5 April at 13:55Kathmandu, Delhi, Milan, Vilnius with Air India and Wizz Air, about 18 hours
EUR 957The same airlines, leaving 6 April and landing in Kathmandu at 09:05 the next morning, about 15 hours 50 minutesThe same return, about 18 hours

The second fare is the one I would book. It is only five euros more and gets you to Kathmandu in the morning, so you can rest, meet your guide and pack that afternoon. Both fares join airlines that do not belong together, so treat them as separate tickets until the booking page says otherwise. If the Warsaw flight is late and you miss Delhi, the second airline owes you nothing. That is the main reason I tell everyone flying this way to keep a spare day at each end. Routes through Istanbul, Doha or Dubai also exist, so compare them on your own dates before you buy. This is one day's search and fares move every day.

Nepal is 2 hours 45 minutes ahead of Lithuania while your clocks are on summer time, and 3 hours 45 minutes ahead in winter. The long first day is easier than the jet lag you might expect.

Do Lithuanian citizens need a visa for Nepal?

No advance visa is needed. A Lithuanian passport is not on the short list of nationalities that must apply at an embassy, so you buy the visa when you land at Kathmandu. It costs USD 30 for 15 days, USD 50 for 30 days and USD 125 for 90 days. For the Everest trek take the 30-day visa, which covers the 12 days on the trail plus a few days in Kathmandu either side. My visa on arrival guide has the forms and the queue. Your passport should be valid for at least six months after you arrive.

How do you pay from Lithuania?

You pay a 10 per cent deposit online to book, and the rest when you arrive in Kathmandu. Euros are fine for the balance, in cash or by card. A card adds 3.5 per cent, which is the bank's charge to us, and cash carries no charge at all. We do not take Nepali rupees from foreign guests. On Budget you also pay for your own food in the teahouses, so carry Nepali rupees for that from a Kathmandu cash machine before the trek, because there are few machines once you leave Lukla and Namche.

When is the best time to trek from Lithuania?

MonthsWhat to expect on the Everest trail
March to MaySpring. Warmer days, rhododendrons in the lower forest, clear mornings, haze later in May. A good match for the Easter holidays
June to AugustMonsoon. Wet lower trail, cloud, frequent Lukla flight delays. I do not recommend it for a first trek
SeptemberThe end of the rains. Green and quieter, with some cloud early in the month
October and NovemberAutumn. The clearest skies of the year and the busiest trail. Book flights early
December to FebruaryWinter. Very cold nights at Gorak Shep, clear days, few trekkers. For people who already know cold

For most Lithuanians I suggest April or the second half of October. My Everest weather month by month page goes further. In the busy months the Lukla flights often leave from Manthali instead of Kathmandu, which means an early drive, and my guide to Ramechhap versus Kathmandu flights explains how that works.

What else should a Lithuanian traveller budget for?

Travel insurance comes first. Buy it at home, and make sure it covers trekking and helicopter rescue up to 6,000 metres, because the trek reaches 5,545 metres at Kala Patthar. I do not recommend policies bought in Nepal. Then allow for tips for your guide and porter at the end, drinks, hot showers and phone charging in the teahouses, and one or two nights in Kathmandu at each end. If you are comparing with neighbours, my pages on the trek cost from Poland and from Finland use the same trek prices with different flights.
