Annapurna Base Camp Trek in 7 Days from Pokhara: Route, Cost and Who It Suits (2027)
Last updated 16 October 2026.
Short answer: Our Annapurna Base Camp Trek, 7 days from Pokhara walks from Nayapul through Ghandruk and Chomrong to Annapurna Base Camp at 4,130 m and back, and returns you to Pokhara on day 7. It costs USD 605 per person on Budget, USD 1,045 on Standard and USD 2,045 on Luxury for two to four people. It suits fit trekkers who are already in Pokhara and want the base camp without spending extra days.
I am Shreejan. Seven days is a good fit if your legs are strong and your time is short. It is still a real mountain walk, with long stone staircases and one big day up to Deurali, so here is what each day asks of you.
How do the seven days run?
| Day | Plan | Walking time |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | Drive to Nayapul (about 90 minutes), walk to Ghandruk, 1,940 m | About 3 hours |
| 2 | Ghandruk to Chomrong, 2,170 m | About 4 hours |
| 3 | Chomrong to Deurali, 3,174 m | About 7 hours |
| 4 | Deurali to Annapurna Base Camp, 4,130 m, via Machhapuchhre Base Camp | 2 to 3 hours |
| 5 | Annapurna Base Camp down to Bamboo | About 6 hours |
| 6 | Bamboo to Jhinu Danda and its hot springs | About 4 hours |
| 7 | Walk to Nayapul and drive back to Pokhara | About 4 hours, then 90 minutes by road |
Day 3 is the hard one. Day 4 is short on purpose, so you reach base camp with time to sit and watch the light on Annapurna I and Machhapuchhre. If you want more time to adjust, read 5, 7 or 9 days: which to choose or look at our 9-day trek.
How hard is it?
It is graded moderate. There is no technical climbing, but you walk four to seven hours on most days, much of it on steps, and you gain more than 2,000 m in four days. You should be able to walk a long day in the hills at home before you come. The honest account is in how difficult the ABC trek is.
What does it cost?
| Group size | Budget | Standard | Luxury |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 person | USD 1,080 | USD 1,480 | USD 3,415 |
| 2 to 4 people | USD 605 | USD 1,045 | USD 2,045 |
| 5 to 8 people | USD 430 | USD 895 | USD 1,865 |
Prices are per person, read from our booking system on 16 October 2026. The full price list for every group size is on the trip page.
Budget gives you shared lodge rooms and a licensed guide, with no porter, so you carry your own bag; meals are your own. Standard gives you private rooms where the lodge has them, all meals on the trek and one porter for every two trekkers. A solo Standard trekker has no porter, and the guide carries up to 10 kg of your bag instead. Luxury gives you the best rooms on the trail, a dedicated porter for each trekker, and all meals with fruit, nuts and soft drinks. Porters carry no more than the government limit of 20 kg: 10 kg each when two of you share one, and 15 kg when you have your own.
Included on every tier: a licensed English-speaking guide, the Annapurna Conservation Area permit and TIMS card, a private vehicle Pokhara to Nayapul and back, a first aid kit with an oximeter, a sleeping bag and down jacket to borrow, and taxes. Not included: hotels in Pokhara or Kathmandu, flights, visa, insurance, tips and personal spending.
What permits do you need?
You need the Annapurna Conservation Area permit, NPR 3,000 for foreign visitors or NPR 1,000 for SAARC citizens, and a TIMS card, NPR 2,000 or NPR 1,000 for SAARC. Both are included and we arrange them before you start.
When is the best time?
| Months | What to expect |
|---|---|
| March to May | Rhododendrons in flower, warm days, some afternoon cloud |
| October and November | Clear skies and the sharpest views of the season |
| December to February | Cold and clear; snow can close the trail above Deurali |
| June to September | Monsoon rain, leeches and cloud; possible but not ideal |
Where do you stay and what do you eat?
Every night is in a teahouse lodge. Higher up the rooms are basic, with shared bathrooms. Teahouses serve dal bhat, noodles, pasta, soups and eggs, and you can buy hot drinks all day. Charging and hot showers usually cost a little extra.
What should you pack?
A day pack, warm layers for evenings at base camp, a rain jacket, broken-in walking shoes, trekking poles, a head torch, a water bottle and water purification. We send a full list when you book.
Is it safe?
Yes, with a guide and sensible pacing. Altitude is the main risk. You sleep at 3,174 m at Deurali and 4,130 m at base camp, so walk slowly, drink plenty and tell your guide straight away if you get a headache. Your guide checks your oxygen level each evening.
What insurance do you need?
Your policy should cover trekking and helicopter rescue up to 4,500 m, because the highest point is Annapurna Base Camp at 4,130 m. Buy it at home before you travel. We do not recommend insurance bought in Nepal.
