Nepal Trekking from Singapore: SGD Prices, Flights & Guide

Last updated 9 October 2026. Singapore dollar figures use the European Central Bank reference rate of 8 October 2026, US$1 = SGD 1.282, and move. Singapore return fares are as seen on 7 October 2026.

Trekking in Nepal from Singapore: the short answer

The 12-day Everest Base Camp trek is USD 1,399 on Budget, USD 2,499 on Standard and USD 4,999 on Luxury per person for one to four trekkers, about SGD 1,795, SGD 3,205 and SGD 6,410. Singapore passport holders buy the visa on arrival. Singapore Airlines operates Changi to Kathmandu, but on 7 October 2026 fares were one-stop only and return fares ran from SGD 913 to SGD 1,077. Two weeks of leave is enough. Message me on WhatsApp, +977 9810351300, with your dates.

A short trip on paper, a real mountain in practice

Singapore is a short hop to Kathmandu compared with Europe. The quickest ticket seen on 7 October 2026 took about 8 hours 10 minutes, and the Singapore Airlines flight SQ441 leaves Kathmandu at 22:55 and lands at Changi at 06:15, about five hours. That makes a trek easy to fit in. What does not fit so easily is the idea that a short flight means a gentle trip. The trail is 12 days, you sleep at 5,164 metres on Everest, and nobody gets to skip the acclimatisation days.

For training, Bukit Timah Hill (164 metres) is a stair workout and not altitude practice. The nearest real mountain in the region is Mount Kinabalu in Sabah at 4,095 metres. If you have been up it, you know how a headache at height feels, but Gorak Shep is more than 1,000 metres higher. Stairs with a loaded pack and long walks on consecutive days are the best use of your time at home.

Price notes, per person: Ghorepani Poon Hill, 6 days: two to four trekkers; solo Standard is USD 960 and solo Luxury USD 1,930; Langtang Valley, 8 days: one trekker; two to four pay less (USD 320, 570 and 800); Annapurna Base Camp from Pokhara, 7 days: two to four trekkers; solo is USD 1,080, 1,480 and 3,415.

Because the flight is short, the question is how many days of leave you have. With about 14 days, Everest Base Camp fits. With nine to ten, Annapurna Base Camp is a better balance of effort and view; there is no Lukla flight to wait for. With a week, Poon Hill or the seven-day Annapurna Base Camp from Pokhara work. Langtang and Mardi Himal are quieter. Manaslu is for experienced trekkers who want a pass at 5,160 metres and few other walkers.

A quick guide to the tiers. Budget: you carry your pack, share a room and buy meals. Standard: every meal is included, you have a private room and a porter is shared by two trekkers. Luxury: a porter just for you, a deluxe private room, and on Everest the helicopter both ways to Lukla. Alone on Standard you have no porter and the guide takes up to 10 kg. None of the tiers includes Kathmandu hotels. Our homestay is USD 15 per person per night if you want somewhere simple.

Singapore dates, and Nepal dates

Nepal is 2 hours 15 minutes behind Singapore all year, since neither changes its clocks. Deepavali on 8 November 2026 falls in the middle of Nepal's Tihar festival (8 to 12 November), when offices close, and Dashain runs 17 to 23 October, so permits need 48 hours of working days in those weeks. Good Friday is 26 March 2027, a good start to the spring season. In the autumn rush, the fixed-wing flights to Lukla leave from Manthali, a four to five hour drive from Kathmandu with a pick-up some time between midnight and 2 am; Luxury trekkers fly by helicopter from Kathmandu instead. A month-by-month guide is in best time for Everest Base Camp. The 2027 dates are set by the lunar calendar, so ask me before you fix flights for an autumn 2027 trip.

Visa, and who looks after Singaporeans in Nepal

You buy it on arrival at Tribhuvan Airport, with no advance application. Immigration charges USD 30 for a 15-day visa, USD 50 for 30 days (around SGD 65) and USD 125 for 90 days, in US dollars only. The online form can be done earlier. Bring a passport valid for six months and one photo. Singapore is not one of the twelve nationalities that must apply in advance. See the visa on arrival guide. Singapore has no embassy in Kathmandu; its High Commission in New Delhi looks after Singaporeans in Nepal, and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs asks travellers to eRegister at mfa.gov.sg before they go.

Changi fares

The fares are for economy with a checked bag, leaving Sunday 25 October 2026 and returning Wednesday 11 November, with one change at most each way. Every result was one-stop. The cheapest, SGD 913, was Air India both ways via Delhi. Batik Air Malaysia via Kuala Lumpur out with Air India home was SGD 961 to SGD 983. Sichuan Airlines via Chengdu cost around SGD 985 to SGD 1,022 in combination with Air India. The quickest way home was Malaysia Airlines via Kuala Lumpur at SGD 1,077. Because Singapore Airlines also flies the route, check singaporeair.com for a nonstop fare on your own dates. The table and total for one traveller are in the Everest Base Camp cost guide for Singapore.

Insurance: MediShield Life stops at Changi

MediShield Life and most hospital plans are built around care in Singapore, not a Himalayan trail. Buy a travel policy in Singapore before you fly. It must name trekking to 6,000 metres (Kala Patthar is 5,545 metres), helicopter rescue, illness as well as injury, and repatriation. Many standard travel plans stop at 3,000 or 4,000 metres. A helicopter from Base Camp to Kathmandu costs USD 3,000 to USD 5,000 if you have to pay yourself. Send me the wording and I will read it. See helicopter cover to 6,000 metres.

Food, halal and language

Trail food is mostly dal bhat, noodles, rice, eggs and soup, and vegetarian is easy. Teahouse kitchens are not halal-certified, so Muslim travellers should read our halal trekking guide and tell us their needs at booking. Treks run in English, as they do in Singapore, and every guide of ours is licensed; Nepal requires one on most routes and we send one on every trek.

Paying us from Singapore

Booking is a deposit of 10 per cent now and the balance in Kathmandu. Dollars and euros are accepted, in cash without a fee or by card with 3.5 per cent added, but not Singapore dollars or Nepali rupees. You can reschedule free to any date inside a year, with 72 hours notice or seven days for restricted-area routes. If you cancel instead, the deposit is lost and there is no refund. If the cancellation is on our side, we repay what you paid, less taxes, bank and card charges and money we have already spent.

How to verify us

You can verify us in four places: the company registrar, TAAN (where we are member 1586), the tourism licence and the foreign-exchange certification. Even then, a licence is not a promise, because licensed operators have been involved in scams. So talk to me before you pay a deposit. There are more than 300 reviews on TripAdvisor, Google and Trustpilot, and the Nagarjun Learning Center is supported by our bookings.
