Nepal Trekking from Brazil: BRL Prices, Flights & Guide

Last updated 9 October 2026. Real figures use the European Central Bank reference rate of 8 October 2026, US$1 = BRL 5.02, and change daily. On 7 October 2026 no São Paulo fares came up, so this page gives none.

Trekking in Nepal from Brazil: the short answer

The 12-day Everest Base Camp trek is USD 1,399 on Budget, USD 2,499 on Standard and USD 4,999 on Luxury per person for one to four trekkers, about BRL 7,020, BRL 12,540 and BRL 25,080. Brazilian passport holders buy the visa on arrival, and should bring a yellow fever certificate. Nepal is a very long way from Brazil, so choose a trek that justifies the journey. Your January and July school breaks are both bad months in the mountains. Message me on WhatsApp, +977 9810351300, and I will help you find the dates that work.

The honest part first: distance

On 7 October 2026 the search for São Paulo (Guarulhos) to Kathmandu return, 25 October to 11 November 2026, economy, one adult with a checked bag and no self-transfer, returned nothing with one change each way, nothing with two, and nothing for the outbound alone. So I cannot quote you a fare. Ask a Brazilian travel agent or an airline for the price on your dates, and add it to the figures below. What I can say is that it is a long journey with at least one change, and you should give yourself an extra day to reset. Nepal is 8 hours 45 minutes ahead of Brasília all year, since Brazil no longer has daylight saving.

Because the journey is so long, I would not spend it on a five-day trek. The ones that justify the flight are the nine-day Annapurna Base Camp and the 12-day Everest Base Camp.

Price notes, per person: Langtang Valley, 8 days: one trekker; two to four pay less (USD 320, 570 and 800); Ghorepani Poon Hill, 6 days: two to four trekkers; solo Standard is USD 960 and solo Luxury USD 1,930.

Everest Base Camp is the trek that makes the distance feel worth it. Annapurna Base Camp is warmer at lower altitude and does not need a mountain flight. Manaslu is a restricted-area circuit with a pass at 5,160 metres, for people who have trekked before. Langtang and Mardi Himal are quieter, and Poon Hill is the gentlest. Pico da Neblina, the highest mountain in Brazil, is about 3,000 metres, close to Lukla at 2,860 metres. Gorak Shep, the highest night on Everest, is at 5,164 metres. Since you start from a coastal altitude, the extra rest days in the plan matter.

The tier decides how much you carry and how you sleep. Budget: your pack, shared rooms, meals bought as you go. Standard: all meals, private rooms, one porter between two. Luxury: one porter per trekker, deluxe private rooms, and on Everest the Lukla helicopter in both directions. Travelling alone on Standard, the guide carries up to 10 kg since there is no porter. Kathmandu hotels are priced separately. Staying with our family costs USD 15 per person a night.

Leave, holidays and the wrong months

The CLT gives you 30 days of paid vacation after 12 months of work, which can be split into up to three periods, one of at least 14 days. That is enough for a trek, and a 14-day block is exactly what Everest needs. But the usual Brazilian holidays land badly. Carnival 2027 falls on 8 and 9 February, in deep winter in the Khumbu. July school holidays are monsoon, and January is cold at altitude. March and April are the sensible spring window: Good Friday is 26 March 2027 and Tiradentes is 21 April 2027. October and November are the other good season. Nepal's Dashain (17 to 23 October) and Tihar (8 to 12 November) 2026 close the offices that issue permits, which need 48 hours of working days. For more, see the best time for Everest Base Camp. The 2027 dates are set by the lunar calendar, so ask me before you fix flights for an autumn 2027 trip.

Visa and the yellow fever certificate

Brazil is not one of the twelve nationalities that must apply before travelling. You will pay USD 30, USD 50 or USD 125 for 15, 30 or 90 days (USD 50 is about BRL 250). Dollars only. Bring one photo and a passport valid for six months. The online form can be done first. See the visa on arrival guide.

Yellow fever is the extra step. The Norwegian Institute of Public Health says Nepal asks for a vaccination certificate from travellers who arrive from, or pass through, countries with a risk of yellow fever transmission, following the World Health Organization's list. Brazil has risk areas, so bring the international certificate (CIVP) and check with the Nepali embassy before you fly. Brazil has issued it electronically since 2019. I am not a doctor, so ask your travel clinic what applies on your route.

Insurance bought in Brazil

The SUS does not follow you to Nepal, and I would not buy cover once you are there. Check the altitude limit (6,000 metres or higher, because Kala Patthar is 5,545 metres), helicopter rescue (USD 3,000 to USD 5,000 if you pay yourself, about BRL 15,050 to BRL 25,080) and illness as well as injury. Send me the wording and I will read it. See helicopter cover to 6,000 metres.

Language and food

Treks run in English. I cannot promise a Portuguese-speaking guide, so ask and I will be straight about who is available. Rice and beans have a cousin here: dal bhat is rice with lentil soup and vegetables, and you can usually ask for more. Vegetarian and vegan are easy, and other dietary needs need a word at booking. Nepal requires a licensed guide on most routes and we send one on every trek.

Paying us from Brazil

You reserve with 10 per cent and pay the balance on arrival in Kathmandu. We take US dollars and euros only, cash being free and cards carrying a 3.5 per cent fee, so reais or Nepali rupees are out. Plans change? Reschedule instead and there is no charge, as long as the new date is within a year and we have 72 hours' notice (seven days for restricted areas). The deposit itself is not refunded if you cancel. If we call a trip off, your refund is what you paid minus taxes, bank and card charges and permit or flight money already spent.

Your Brazilian bank will add its own foreign-transaction charges and the IOF tax to a card payment made abroad, so ask your bank what a payment in dollars will cost.

The Embassy of Brazil in Kathmandu is at Chundevi Marg, Maharajgunj, and its consular section lists weekday hours. Save the contact before you leave.

Frequently asked questions

Do Brazilians need a visa for Nepal?

Yes, bought on arrival at Kathmandu airport: USD 30 for 15 days, USD 50 for 30 days or USD 125 for 90 days. Pay in dollars and bring one photo.

Do I need a yellow fever certificate?

Nepal asks for one from travellers arriving from or passing through countries at risk of yellow fever, and Brazil has risk areas. Bring the CIVP and check with the Nepali embassy.

How much does Everest Base Camp cost from Brazil?

The trek is USD 1,399, 2,499 or 4,999 per person by tier, about BRL 7,020, BRL 12,540 and BRL 25,080. The flight is extra and no fare came up, so ask a travel agent.

Is there a direct flight from São Paulo to Kathmandu?

No. On 7 October 2026 no itinerary with one or two changes came up for 25 October to 11 November. Ask an agent or airline for a fare.

When should I travel, given Brazilian holidays?

March to April and October to November. Carnival in February is cold and January and July are monsoon or winter in the mountains.

Does SUS or my health plan cover me in Nepal?

No. You need a travel policy with trekking cover to 6,000 metres, helicopter evacuation and illness cover, bought in Brazil.

Is Pico da Neblina good training?

It shows you how you feel at about 3,000 metres, close to Lukla. Everest Base Camp is much higher, so rest days and a slow pace do the real work.

Can I pay in reais?

No. We take US dollars or euros, in cash or by card. Your bank may add its own charges.

Can I trek alone?

Yes. A solo traveller can book a private departure or join one of our fixed group departures, with a licensed guide either way.
