Shamjhana Basukala is the Manager of Everest Holiday Pvt. Ltd., a passionate and dedicated tourism professional, social worker, and community advocate. Born on May 16, 1996, she graduated in Tourism Management from the Nepal College of Travel and Tourism Management. Her journey into the tourism industry began early, working as a local guide in Bhaktapur while still in school. She officially became a licensed guide in 2016, and since then, her career has flourished on a solid foundation.
In 2015, Shamjhana gained valuable experience through an internship in airline ticketing with Ace Travel, one of Nepal’s top travel companies. In 2017, she expanded her expertise by working with international bikers on bike ride tours across Nepal, providing unique and exciting travel experiences.
Alongside her professional career, Shamjhana has consistently demonstrated a deep commitment to social welfare and community development. Her heart for helping others has been evident since her school days, and she is the founder of the WarmUp Nepal Project, which provides free clothing to rural poor communities across Nepal. She is also the Secretary of the NGO Nagarjun Learning Center (NLC), which works to support rural communities in the Himalayas.
Her social work and community development initiatives include:
1. Che Fans Club, Bhaktapur (2009): Initiated a sports program to encourage physical activities and foster community engagement among youth in Bhaktapur.
2. School Volunteering Activities: Volunteered in various schools in Bhaktapur, including Ganesh Secondary School, Sharada Secondary School, The Rising English Secondary School, and Sunrise Secondary School, helping support students’ learning and extracurricular development.
3. Post-Earthquake Community Learning Center (2015): Became a founding team member of a community-based learning center in Nagarkot after the devastating earthquake, providing free tuition to 45 children and offering a safe space for their emotional recovery.
4. Warm Up Nepal Project (2016–2022): Co-founded this initiative to support rural communities by collecting and distributing clothing donations to underprivileged communities in remote areas of Nepal.
5. NLC Charity Project (2019–Present): Co-founded the NLC charity project with the team to offer community-based support and education programs to rural areas.
Shamjhana’s leadership journey also includes her involvement with the Leo Club of Bhaktapur Araniko from 2011 to 2019, where she served as President for three consecutive years (2016–2019). During her tenure, she led numerous community service projects and youth leadership programs. Shamjhana Basukala’s unwavering dedication to community service, youth empowerment, and social impact continues to inspire others. Through her initiatives, she has made a lasting impact on rural communities in Nepal. Her work proves that small acts of kindness and service can create meaningful, lasting change in Nepal.
