See Gosaikunda, the sacred alpine lake in the Langtang National Park, in a single day instead of five days on foot. We collect you from your Kathmandu hotel, you fly by helicopter north to the lake at 4,380 m, and you are back in Kathmandu afterwards.

Important: this tour is available only in December, January and February, and June and July. We cannot sell it for other months. If your dates fall in March to May or September to November, tell us and we will suggest another tour.

The helicopter is chartered for your group alone, up to four guests, on every option, so you never share with strangers. The price per person falls with each extra guest, up to four. The tour includes a landing at the lake, with up to about 30 minutes on the ground, depending on the weather. The pilot makes the final call on the day, and if the weather stops a landing we tell you before you fly. In June and July, monsoon cloud can stop a flight, and in winter the lake can be frozen and the mornings very cold.

Gosaikunda is at 4,380 m, about 3,000 m higher than Kathmandu, and a day flight gives you no time to acclimatise. Tell us about any heart, lung or blood-pressure condition before you book.

The tour starts and ends in Kathmandu, with hotel pick-up and drop-off. Your Kathmandu hotel is not included, but we can arrange it.

Every booking supports the Nagarjun Learning Center, our school in Saldum. The Everest Holiday is a family company founded in 2016, from three generations of guiding in the Himalayas.

Why Book This Trek With The Everest Holiday

Three Generations of Family Guides

Family-run since 2016 with three generations of guiding heritage. Not an agency — the family that runs the company leads your trek personally.

Fixed departures are dates we have already committed to run. Your party still treks as its own private group with its own guide; we never merge bookings or add strangers, and solo trekkers are welcome on any date. Private departures on any other date you choose are also available. On both, the per-person price is set by the size of your own party.

Essential Information

Before you fly

  • Season: this tour runs only in December, January and February, and June and July. It cannot be booked for other months.
  • What to wear: warm layers, a down jacket, gloves, a hat, sunglasses and sun cream. It is cold at 4,380 m, and very cold on winter mornings.
  • Altitude: Gosaikunda is 4,380 m and Kathmandu about 1,400 m. There is no time to acclimatise on a day flight. Tell us about any heart, lung or blood-pressure condition. Time on the ground is up to about 30 minutes, depending on the weather.
  • Weather: helicopters fly in clear conditions, so we plan for the morning. June and July are monsoon months, so cloud can cancel a flight. The pilot makes the final call, and we move you to another day at no charge if the flight cannot go.
  • Start: Kathmandu. Kathmandu hotel nights are not included, and we can book them.
  • Documents: bring your passport. Permits are arranged by us.

FAQs

Only in December, January and February, and June and July. We cannot sell it for any other month, because the helicopter flight is not available then. If your dates are outside those months, tell us and we will suggest another tour, such as our Gosaikunda trek.
Yes. A landing is part of the tour, with up to about 30 minutes on the ground, depending on the weather. The pilot makes the final call on the day, and if the weather stops a landing we tell you before you fly.
No. The helicopter is chartered for your group alone, up to four guests. We never add strangers to a private booking. The price per person falls with each extra guest, up to four.
Up to four guests in one helicopter. For a bigger party, ask us and we will check what can be arranged.
Gosaikunda is 4,380 m, about 3,000 m higher than Kathmandu. You get no time to acclimatise on a day flight, so time on the ground is limited to about 30 minutes. Tell us about any heart, lung or blood-pressure condition before you book.
It can be. June and July are monsoon months, and cloud can stop the helicopter. We plan for the morning and we move you to another day, or another date, at no charge if the flight cannot go. In December to February the sky is often clearer, but it is very cold and the lake can be frozen.
There is emergency oxygen on board. If you have a medical condition that may need oxygen, please speak to your doctor before you fly.
If the weather stops the helicopter on your day, we move you to the next day it can fly, or to any other date, at no charge to you. If we cannot run your tour at all, we refund what you have paid, less taxes, bank or card charges and any money already spent on your behalf. If you cancel yourself, the deposit is not refundable, but you can reschedule free to any date within one year with at least 72 hours' notice.
The helicopter is private to your group on all three. Budget gives you the flight, permits and Kathmandu hotel transfers by vehicle sized to your group. Standard adds a private vehicle and an escort guide who looks after you on the ground. Luxury adds SUV-class transfers and lunch.
No. A child pays the same as an adult, because the helicopter seat, permits and taxes cost us the same for a child. Tell us the age of each child when you book.
Yes. Buy travel insurance at home, before you travel, and check that it covers helicopter flights and the altitude of this tour. We do not recommend insurance bought in Nepal.
You pay a 10% deposit to book and the balance before the trip. We take US dollars or euros, in cash or by card. Card payments carry a 3.5% bank charge.
