This is a family holiday in Nepal with no trekking. You spend three nights in Kathmandu for the temples, two nights at Chitwan for a jeep safari, a dugout canoe and a Tharu evening, three nights in Pokhara on the lake, and a last night in Kathmandu. Every day has one main thing to do and time to rest, and a licensed guide stays with you throughout.

We built it for children from about six, with parents always travelling with them. Two days include five to six hours on the road, with stops, and some mornings start early, so we have kept the afternoons light. A child pays the same as an adult, because permits, hotels, a seat in the vehicle and taxes cost us the same.

Why Book This Trek With The Everest Holiday

Three Generations of Family Guides

Family-run since 2016 with three generations of guiding heritage. Not an agency — the family that runs the company leads your trek personally.

Private Group — No Strangers

Every trek we run is private. Your group only. We never combine bookings or add strangers to your party. If you book solo, you walk with a guide; if you book as four friends, your group stays four.

Nagarjun Learning Center Giveback

A fixed share of every booking funds the Nagarjun Learning Center — 70 children, 7 community centres, 3 full-time teachers, 600+ medical interventions, 275+ women supported. You see the impact at the centre on day 1.

Fixed departures are dates we have already committed to run. Your party still treks as its own private group with its own guide; we never merge bookings or add strangers, and solo trekkers are welcome on any date. Private departures on any other date you choose are also available. On both, the per-person price is set by the size of your own party.

Essential Information

Before you go

  • Children: we built the tour for children from about six. Younger children can come, but the two long drives and the early starts are harder. Tell us each child's age when you book.
  • Drives: Kathmandu to Chitwan and Chitwan to Pokhara are each five to six hours by road, with stops when you want them. The flight from Pokhara to Kathmandu is short.
  • Wildlife: sightings are never guaranteed, and tigers are rarely seen. Bring neutral-coloured clothes, insect repellent and a hat for Chitwan.
  • Temples: shoes come off at some entrances, and shoulders and knees should be covered. Leather items are not allowed inside a few Hindu temples.
  • Best months: October to March for Chitwan, and September to November and February to May for Kathmandu and Pokhara. Summer is hot and wet.
  • Documents: bring your passport, and a copy of each child's passport.

FAQs

A jeep safari in the national park, a guided walk at the forest edge, a dugout canoe ride on the Rapti river and a Tharu stick dance in the evening. Sightings are never guaranteed, and tigers are rarely seen. Your naturalist guide decides what suits the youngest in the group.
Kathmandu to Chitwan and Chitwan to Pokhara are each about five to six hours by road, with stops when you want them. We fly from Pokhara to Kathmandu on day 9, which saves a third long drive.
Yes, for the sites listed in the includes, the national park fee and the Pokhara sights on day 8. The official entrance fees for foreign visitors are set by the Nepal Tourism Board and are paid for you.
In hotels in Kathmandu and Pokhara and in a jungle lodge at Chitwan. Rooms are twin or double. For a family of three or four we book two rooms, or a family room where the hotel has one. Tell us how you want to share.

The programme is the same on all three. Budget gives you simple twin-share hotels and a simple jungle lodge, breakfast and the activities. Standard gives you private rooms in 3-star hotels, all meals and a guide in your language where we have one. Luxury gives you ensuite rooms in deluxe hotels and a deluxe jungle lodge, all meals with non-alcoholic drinks, a senior guide and a more spacious vehicle.
No. A child pays the same as an adult, because permits, hotels, a seat in the vehicle and taxes cost us the same for a child. Tell us the age of each child when you book so we can plan the days around them.
A licensed guide leads every day. We tell you your guide's name once your booking is confirmed.
If we cannot run your trip, we refund what you have paid, less taxes, bank or card charges and any money already spent on your behalf, or move you to another date. If you cancel yourself, the deposit is not refundable, but you can reschedule free to any date within one year with at least 72 hours' notice.
Yes. Buy travel insurance at home, before you travel, and check that it covers medical care, domestic flights and the dates of your trip. We do not recommend insurance bought in Nepal.
You pay a 10% deposit to book and the balance before the trip. We take US dollars or euros, in cash or by card. Card payments carry a 3.5% bank charge.
