Trip PlanExpand all
Day 01:

Your adventure journey to the Everest region begins with a stunning flight that is determined by the time of year you travel. During the peak seasons of spring and autumn, your journey begins around 12:30 a.m. from Kathmandu. You will travel overland for around five hours to Manthali Airport, a strategic starting point that ensures you catch one of the day's first flights. From there, an exciting 20-minute flight takes you over rolling foothills and deep into the heart of the Himalayas, landing at the well-known airport in Lukla.

Traveling during the quieter months of winter or the monsoon season makes it easier to enter the Everest region. During these times, aircraft leave directly from Kathmandu's Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA). After breakfast at your hotel, you will be driven to the airport for an amazing 40-minute flight that will provide you with a panoramic view of the magnificent peaks that lie ahead.

When you arrive at the Tenzing-Hillary Airport in Lukla, you will take your first steps on the trail. The day's trek is short and mild, allowing your body to begin acclimating to the altitude. The path gently descends the Thado Koshi River, passing via several unique suspension bridges decorated with prayer flags before arriving at the peaceful settlement of Phakding. To complete your first day, you can visit the neighboring Rimishung Monastery, immersing yourself in the Khumbu's spiritual tradition.

Max Altitude: 2,650m / 8,562ft Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, and DinnerAccommodation: Local Teahouse or LodgeDuration: 40 Minute flight, and 3 hours hikeDistance: 6.2 km/ 3.8 miles
Day 02:

After breakfast, you will continue trekking along the Dudh Koshi River, enjoying the majestic views of the trail and crossing many suspension bridges, including the Hillary Bridge, where you can experience new recreational activities such as bungee jumping.

On the Everest Bungee, you don't just jump; you fall into the Himalayas. The platform is 3,600 meters above sea level and hangs over a wild mountain river. This makes it one of the highest bungee adventure spots in the world. It seems like time slows down when you step off. As you look around, snow-capped peaks rush by, and the wind howls in your ears. For a brief yet exhilarating moment, you experience a sense of weightlessness between the sky and the rock. It energizes you, but you feel like you're losing it in the mountains' serene beauty.

As you move forward, you will enter the Sagarmatha National Park checkpost, where your permits are registered, and then ascend through the dense forests. You will see the first sight of Mt. Everest. Trekking further, you will arrive at Namche Bazar, the gateway of Everest.

Max Altitude: 3,440m/11,285ft Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, and DinnerAccommodation: Local Teahouse or LodgeDuration: 5-6 hoursDistance: 7.4 km/ 4.6 miles
Day 03:

Namche Bazaar is the high Himalayas' heart and Everest's trade hub. This stepped-down village is in a natural circle and receives the first light that comes over Kongde Ri. From the teahouses, you can smell the fresh-baked Sherpa bread. You might hear the quiet singing of monks from a monastery on a hill in the morning, along with the chatter of hikers getting ready to hit the trail. Namche is more than just a stop. It's where cold and warm meet, business and culture mix, and strangers become part of a mountain story.

You can enjoy walking through the surrounding markets, visit Hillary School, explore Sherpa settlements, and see a yak farm. Hike up to the Everest View Hotel, where you can enjoy a mesmerizing view of Mt. Everest.

The Everest View Hotel sits at an altitude of 3,880 meters (12,729 feet) above sea level, making it one of the highest-placed luxury hotels in the world. It looks out over Khumjung like a watchful eye. It doesn't feel like a building; it's more like a platform with a view of the sky. In the morning, the soft crackle of frost under your feet gets you up. The panoramic windows let in a lot of light that makes Ama Dablam, Lhotse, and Everest look beautiful. Inside, only the soft clink of teacups can be heard. Each sip feels like a toast to the mountains. "It's not just a place to stay; it's a front-row seat to a work of art that changes with every cloud.

(Note: According to your choices, we have multiple options of hikes during the acclimatization day, such as visiting the Sherpa Culture museum, Yeti Sculpture, and Everest View Hotel)

Max Altitude: 3,440m/11,285ft Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, and DinnerAccommodation: Local Teahouse or Lodge
Day 04:

After breakfast, you'll leave the busy main trail behind and enter a side valley on your approach to the peaceful Gokyo Lakes. From Namche Bazaar to Dole, the trek is a long challenging ascent that leaves behind the familiar Khumbu's bustle for stunning views from high above and a strong feeling of peacefulness. Less concerned with distance and more with a gradual, lung-testing ascent into a breathtaking alpine landscape, this day covers 11 km / 8.6 miles and a considerable height increase.

Ascending from Namche Bazaar, one follows the main trail leading to Everest, which soon diverges to the right at the Sanasa junction. A steady and frequently steep ascent up the western wall of the Dudh Koshi valley becomes apparent at this point, revealing the day's true character. The trail relentlessly winds its way through pine and aromatic rhododendron forests, providing breathtaking views of the Khumbu Alps with Kongde Ri in the distance. The small settlements of Mong La (3,975m/13,041ft) and Phortse Thanga (a riverside hamlet where you descend steeply before beginning the final, grueling ascent to Dole) will be passed through. Mong La is a picturesque ridge-top village with a stupa and teahouses; it provides a crucial rest stop with perhaps the best panoramic views of the day. The final ascent is a wide, exposed mountainside where the air becomes much thinner. Unobstructed views of Thamserku and the vast, silent valley await you at the dispersed stone teahouses of Dole (4,200m/13,780ft), which feel like arriving at a solitary mountain sanctuary.

Max Altitude: 4,200m / 13,270ft Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, and DinnerAccommodation: Local Teahouse or LodgeDuration: 5-6 HoursDistance: 11 km/ 8.6miles
Day 05:

The hike from Dole to Machhermo is shorter and has a more gradual rise, which lets you fully take in the stark, high-altitude grandeur of the Gokyo Valley. The climb is only 7 km long and has a small net elevation gain, but because it starts at a high location, it needs to be done at a slow, steady pace to let people get used to the altitude. This section doesn't have any high climbs; instead, it has a stunning, exposed crossing across alpine hillsides that gives you unbroken views of the Himalayas and a deep sense of being in the middle of nowhere.

The trail starts off by gently rising above Dole. It swiftly leaves the trees behind and enters a landscape of scrub juniper, dwarf rhododendron, and wide-open fields. The path is clear and runs along the western side of the valley, giving you great views of the huge peaks Kangtega (6,782m/22,251ft) and Thamserku (6,623m/21,729ft). You will pass via the little summer villages of Lhabarma and Luza (4,360m/14,304ft), where yaks and Himalayan deer often eat. The air is thin and clear, and the only sounds are the wind and the faint sound of the river far below. The last part of the trip to Machhermo (4,470m/14,665ft) takes you to a broad, flat area next to the Dudh Koshi River, where a group of lodges is encircled by tall mountains. Machhermo is important in history since it is where a famous yeti sighting took place. It is also home to the Himalayan Rescue Association's third aid post, which makes it a very important stop for acclimatization and learning about safety at high altitudes before continuing on to Gokyo Lake.

Max Altitude: 4,470m / 14,450ft Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, and DinnerAccommodation: Local Teahouse or LodgeDuration: 5-6 HoursDistance: 7 km/ 4.3 miles
Day 06:

The ascent from Machhermo to Gokyo is the final, stunning part of the journey to an amazing place in the Himalayas. The ascent is lengthy at a very high altitude, making every step count and the air constantly getting thinner; nonetheless, the leg is only 5.7 km in length. As you ascend out of the valley floor and into an environment of ancient glaciers, turquoise lakes, and towering peaks, the beauty of the destination makes the physical difficulty of the walk seem less daunting.

Beginning at the base of Nepal's largest glacier, the Ngozumpa, the trail heads north. The wide and rugged path rises steadily alongside the roaring, milky waters of the Dudh Koshi River, which receive their water supply from the melting glacier. Surrounded by vast amounts of debris, the landscape is breathtakingly beautiful, resembling the moon. On your way, you'll see two of the six lakes in Gokyo. The lakes' green and turquoise colors will look stunning against the white ice and gray rocks. when you reach these lakes, it means you're making great strides toward your goal. Gokyo, the last village on the way to the third lake, Dudh Pokhari, is reached after a short but steep ascent of 4,790 meters (15,715 feet). An experience reminiscent of being in the Himalayas awaits you as you reach the shores of this picturesque lake, flanked by the massive Gokyo Ri mountain to the front and the Ngozumpa Glacier behind the village. You have entered a genuine ice and water heaven, encircled by some of the world's tallest mountains.

Max Altitude: 4,790m/15,580ft Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, and DinnerAccommodation: Local Teahouse or LodgeDuration: 4-5 HoursDistance: 5.7 km/ 3.5 miles
Day 07:

The hike from Gokyo to the top of Gokyo Ri and down to Machhermo is a day of amazing rewards. The trek starts with a hard hike up the steep, winding trail to the top of Gokyo Ri (5,357m) before sunrise. The distance is little, but the effort is huge because of the high altitude. When you get to the top, all the hard work is forgotten. You are greeted by what many trekkers think is the best panoramic view in the Himalayas: a stunning 360-degree view of Everest, Lhotse, Makalu, and Cho Oyu, with the turquoise Gokyo Lakes and the huge Ngozumpa Glacier at your feet.

After going back down to Gokyo for a late breakfast, the trip continues with a long but beautiful walk back down the valley to Machhermo. During the second half of the day, you will walk back via the lateral moraine. This will give you a new view of the turquoise lakes and huge peaks from a higher altitude as you slowly descend. The downward climb is easier on your lungs, but the distance and rough terrain challenge your endurance. Finally getting to Machhermo is a wonderful finale to a day that combines the best views of the Himalayas with a satisfying return to a familiar place of peace.

Max Altitude: 4,790m/15,580ft Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, and DinnerAccommodation: Local Teahouse or LodgeDuration: 6-7 HoursDistance: 11 km/ 6.8 miles
Day 08:

After breakfast, we will descend from Machhermo to Namche Bazaar which is long but worthwhile hike. Taking you through the beautiful Gokyo Valley and back into the Khumbu's lively core. As the air becomes heavy with oxygen and the scenery changes from high-altitude moors to verdant rhododendron forests, the 9.6 kilometer/ 5.6 miles trek becomes a largely downhill hike, lowering nearly 1,000 meters in height. This offers an actual feeling of relief. The trail returns you to the well-known villages of Dole and Luza, providing one last look over Thamserku and Kangtega. Over the Mong La intersection, you will face a challenging descent that will test your knees, but in the end, you will reach the river valley and the major Namche trail.

As you go back down the mountain from Phortse Thanga to Namche Bazaar, you will experience a mixture of relief and mindfulness as you reach the busier Everest Base Camp trail and feel the energy change from secluded seclusion to crowded mountain commerce. As challenging as the final ascent up the switchbacks to Namche is, the view of the village's terraced lodges and shops is well worth the effort. After spending time alone in the Gokyo Valley, returning to Namche is a sensory feast: the sound of other hikers, the aroma of freshly baked pastries, and the relative calm of lower elevation all combine to create an atmosphere of great fulfillment and an opportunity to toast the successful completion of an extraordinary Himalayan circuit.

Max Altitude: 3,440m / 11,285ft Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, and DinnerAccommodation: Local Teahouse or LodgeDuration: 5-6 HoursDistance: 9.6 km/ 5.6 miles
Day 09:

The final segment of your adventure across the Himalayas is a long but very rewarding hike that takes you back to Lukla, the gateway to the Khumbu, from the busy metropolis of the Khumbu. This day is a mix of looking back on the past and trekking with purpose to get back to civilization. You walk 13.5 Km/ 8.3 miles from the high Himalayas to the lush, green valleys of the lower Everest region. The trail is mostly downhill, but it is notable for having many small, steep uphill sections that make the mountains work hard until the last step.

Before we start our day, you get one more amazing vista from the Namche cliffside. Then you go down the steep switchbacks to where the Dudh Koshi and Bhote Koshi rivers meet at Larja Dobhan. The track mostly follows the river valley after you cross the huge suspension bridges. where you can have adventure like Bunjee. it will be the amazing ending of your 10 days gokyo

It winds through lovely pine forests and past settlements, you know, such as Phakding and Ghat. The trail is like a roller coaster. Every time you go down to the riverbank, you have to climb back up the opposite side, which tests your strength one last time. The air gets thicker and richer in oxygen, which makes it easier to breathe, but the continuous changes in the ground still make your legs work harder. It is a good thing to see Lukla's airport on the side of the mountain, because it means the end of an epic. Getting to Lukla is a huge accomplishment. You can finally enjoy finishing one of the world's best journeys by sharing experiences with other trekkers before your trip down to the world below.

Max Altitude: 2,850m / 9,350ft Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, and DinnerAccommodation: Local Teahouse or LodgeDuration: 7-8 HoursDistance: 13.5 km / 8.3 miles
Day 10:

If you plan to walk in March, April, May, September, October, or November, you should arrive in Manthali by plane and then drive to Kathmandu, which will take around five hours. You will land in Kathmandu, Nepal, at Tribhuvan International Airport. We recommend that you arrive in Kathmandu by 4 p.m. at least a day before the trip. It will give you a lot of time to get ready at the last minute. We will drive you to the airport in Kathmandu on the day of your trip so you can travel to Lukla.
During the popular trekking months (March, April, May, September, October, and November), flights to Lukla may leave from Manthali Airport instead of Kathmandu to ease traffic. In this instance, our guide will pick you up from your hotel at about 12:30 a.m. and bring you to Manthali, where you will take a 20-minute flight to Lukla.
During the off-season (December, January, February, June, July, and August), flights leave directly from Kathmandu. On these days, you'll take a 40-minute flight to Lukla. We can arrange to pick you up at Kathmandu Airport early in the morning if necessary.

Note:

Dal Bhat Tarkari is a cuisine from the area that has lentil soup, rice, and vegetable curry. It's a big supper that will provide you with energy. If you want to be healthy and clean at high altitudes, you should keep away from alcohol, caffeinated drinks, and foods that aren't vegetarian.

During the trek, we will give one porter for two trekkers. The porter can only carry 20 kg, so each person on the hike can only bring 10 kg of luggage. So, get together with friends and family; we put your items in a duffel bag that holds more than sixty liters. We anticipate you to simply bring a small bag with your camera, water, snacks, and other important things. All luggage and gear will be checked before the trek begins.

Note:
Budget package: There are no porters, so you will need to carry your own backpack and belongings throughout the trek.
Standard package: There will be one porter for every two trekkers, who carry up to 20 kg (10 kg per person).
Luxury package: Each trekker has their own personal porter, so you don’t need to carry anything.

Facilities and Essentials

Water

You can purchase bottled water from shops along the trekking route or get safe boiled or filtered water at the lodges. We highly recommend bringing a reusable water bottle and refilling it with boiled water to reduce plastic waste. Avoid drinking untreated tap, river, or well water, as it may cause illness. For extra safety, carry water purification tablets or buy them at local shops along the trail. Staying hydrated is very important at high altitude.

Note:
Budget Package: you need to bring your own refillable water bottle, and you're responsible for getting your own water along the trail. You can buy bottled water or pay for warm/boiled water at the lodges, but these are not included in the package.
Standard Package: you will be provided with 2 liters of warm water daily. This helps you stay hydrated safely without needing to buy bottled water frequently. if you want more water or cold drinks, you’ll need to buy them yourself.
Luxuxy package: You will have unlimited access to mineral water, coffee, tea, juices, and cold drinks anytime you want, except for alcoholic beverages. There is no need to carry or worry about purifying water yourself.

Communication

We will provide you with a SIM card in Kathmandu and teach you how to get data and recharge cash on it, but mobile signals may be weak at higher altitudes. For your safety, our lead guide keeps daily contact with all trekking teams via mobile. We are fully prepared to handle emergencies, and our guides are trained to provide assistance whenever needed. Additionally, we use walkie-talkies and satellite phones in areas with no network to ensure constant communication.

Note:
Budget package: A SIM card will be provided and teach you how to take a data package and recharge, but the data is not included.
Standard Package: A SIM card with a limited data package already set up everything for you.

Travel Essentials

Visa

Foreigners require a visa to enter Nepal, but Indians don't. Most people can get a visa when they arrive at Kathmandu International Airport. The current fee is USD 50 for 30 days, payable in cash. Citizens of China and SAARC countries receive a free visa. If you are the citizen of any countries then you much contact to your embassy.

Travel insurance

This trek is easy in terms of hiking, but it takes place at high altitudes, so there is a small risk of altitude sickness and other hazards. Therefore, travel insurance is required. Your policy must cover medical expenses and emergency helicopter rescue up to an altitude of 5500 meters. We ask our clients to provide detailed insurance information before the trek beggin. In case of an emergency, we will use your insurance details to arrange a quick evacuation and transfer to medical facilities.

Currency Exchange

The Nepali Rupee (NPR) is the country's official currency; one US dollar is equivalent to around 130 NPR.  In Kathmandu, you may find banks and approved money exchange centers where you can exchange major foreign currencies. ATMs are widely available to withdraw NPR, but extra service fees may apply. Make sure your notes are new and undamaged, as old or torn bills may be refused. Only the 100 INR note from India is legally accepted in Nepal. It’s best to exchange money in Kathmandu before heading to trekking regions, as exchange options in remote areas are limited.

Extra Expense

While our package covers most of your expenses during the trek, you will need to budget for some personal items like meals and accommodation in Kathmandu, visa fees, snacks, hot showers, personal equipment, tips for the crew, etc. We recommend you budget approximately $20 USD per day for these personal expenses during the trek.

Best Time to Trek Gokyo trek 10 days.

The best time to do the Gokyo trek is during spring (March to May) and autumn (September to November). These times of year have the most steady weather and the best views of the mountains, making for a more pleasant and beautiful climb. During the day in the spring, temperatures stay about 20°C, but at night in higher places, they can plummet to about -5°C. In the fall, the days are normally pleasant, reaching 25°C, and the evenings are cool, down to -10°C. During winter (December–February): The weather is cold, especially at higher altitudes, and some trails may be icy or snowy, with temperatures at higher altitudes reaching  15°C, while at night it can drop to -20°C. Fewer trekkers visit, making it quiet and peaceful. In Nepal, June to August is also the rainy season; thus, the path is a little slippery and wet, with temperatures at higher altitudes reaching up to 27°C. The evenings, on the other hand, are fairly moderate, around 5°C.

Flight Delays

Flights between Kathmandu and Lukla depend on the weather and can sometimes be delayed or cancelled. If your flight is cancelled, a helicopter is a possible alternative. A helicopter flight usually costs between $500 to $1,000 USD per person; this price depends on weather and flight availability, and this price is based on a group of five people sharing the cost. To be safe, we highly recommend adding one or two extra days to your travel plans just in case there are any flight delays.

Typical day

We’ll start each morning with an early breakfast. The day’s trek is usually split into two parts: a 3–4-hour trek, followed by a one-hour lunch break, and then a shorter trek in the afternoon. Dinner is served around 7:00 p.m. Afterward, your guide will brief you on the plan for the next day. The rest of the evening is yours to relax, explore the village, or enjoy some downtime with your fellow trekkers.
