Reminder

For a smooth and stress-free start, we highly recommend arriving in Kathmandu by 4 PM the day before we leave. This gives you enough time for a final gear check, a trip briefing with your guide, and to make sure you have everything you need before heading to the trek.

Online briefing

This is like our first coffee before the trip, but online!  This online meeting is our chance to show you everything that will happen on the trip.  We'll talk about everything from what gear to bring to what each day on the route will be like and how it will feel, and we'll answer any questions you have.  After you book, we'll send you an email with a couple of times when we can talk. We'll set up the meeting after the booking process is completed. Also, our trek itinerary does not include your hotel stay in Kathmandu. So while in the online meeting, please let us know your preferences, budget, and standard of the hotel you would like to stay in in Kathmandu. We will arrange it for you accordingly.

Lukla Flight Information

It's a sensible idea to add two days to your travel arrangements to make sure your return trip goes smoothly. The weather in the mountains can sometimes be unpredictable, which makes the Lukla flight so beautiful. This extra time gives you a comfortable buffer against any delays, which protects your international flight connection.
Most flights to Lukla go from Kathmandu, but during peak season, they go through Manthali (Ramechhap) Airport. The popular trekking times are spring (March-May) and fall (October-November). Nepal's Civil Aviation Authority follows this regular approach to cut down on heavy aviation traffic at Kathmandu's only international runway. This helps make flight schedules for the Everest region safer and more reliable.
At the start of your journey, you’ll be driven 4–6 hours from Kathmandu to Manthali. Pickup takes place around midnight (12 a.m.–1 a.m.) to connect you with the short 20-minute flight to Lukla. For your return, you’ll retrace the same steps, flying to Manthali and driving back to Kathmandu. Rest assured, all ground transportation is provided.

Note to Hikers

Experience the Himalayas on your terms. We create personal, intimate treks for groups of two or more. Whether you select our Budget, Standard, or Luxury package, your adventure will be exclusively for you and your companions, ensuring a comfortable and personal journey from start to finish.

Trip PlanExpand all
Day 01:

Your flight to Lukla will leave from either Kathmandu or Manthali, depending on the time of year. Aircraft from Kathmandu may be diverted to Manthali Airport in March, April, May, September, October, and November. In that case, we would drive you to Manthali for five hours after picking you up at your hotel at 12:30 AM. We'll fly you to Lukla for 20 minutes.

You may normally travel straight from Kathmandu to Lukla in December, January, February, June, July, and August. We'll take you to kathmandu International Airport (TIA) after breakfast. From there, you'll fly to the most adventurous airport, Tenzing-Hillary Airport in Lukla, for half an hour.

When you get to Lukla, you'll trek a short distance to Phakding. The day's hike is short to let people get used to the weather. You can go to Rimishung Monastery and other local monasteries in your leisure time, as well as shopping and restaurants in Phakding.

Max Altitude: 2,850/9,350 ftMeals: Breakfast, Lunch, and DinnerAccommodation: Tea House LodgeDuration: 3 hours / 40/20 minutesDistance: 6.2km/ 3.8miles
Day 02:

We start a trek along the northern banks of the Dudh Koshi River early in the morning, taking in the beautiful sights all around us. You'll cross several suspension bridges, which are often covered in prayer flags, including the famous Hillary Suspension Bridge. You have an option to also do a bungee jump or swing at the highest altitude in the Hillary suspension bridges overlooking the majestic Himalayas. On the way to Sagarmatha National Park (Everest National Park), you will pass through Monjo Village. After we get our permits at Sagarmatha National Park, we hike through a thick jungle and see Mount Everest for the first time. Next, we follow stone and wooded roads to get to Namche Bazaar. Namche Bazaar is an excellent spot to relax and rest because of its lovely surroundings and friendly people.

Max Altitude: 3,440 m/11,285 ft.Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, and DinnerAccommodation: Tea House LodgeDuration: 6 hoursDistance: 7.4 km / 4.6 miles
Day 03:

Trekkers must acclimatize as they ascend to higher altitudes. You have a day to adjust your body to the increasing altitude. However, you can still explore Namche Bazaar. You will find several cafes and hangout spots, as this is the most commercialized village in the region. You also have the option to take a hike to the Sagarmatha National Park Visitor Centre or the nearby Sherpa villages of Khunde and Khumjung. Don’t miss Khumjung Monastery, which is said to house a Yeti scalp. A highlight of the day is a hike up to the Everest View Hotel, where you will be rewarded with spectacular views of Mt. Everest. Afterwards, we will return to Namche Bazaar for the night.

(Note: According to your choices, we have multiple options of hikes during the acclimatization day, such as visiting the Sherpa Culture museum, Yeti Sculpture, and Everest View Hotel.)

Max Altitude: 3440 MetersMeals: Breakfast, Lunch, and DinnerAccommodation: Tea House Lodge
Day 04:

The trek starts gently up to Phunki Village, but reaching Tengboche is more challenging due to steep uphill paths. The effort is rewarded with stunning Himalayan views and the chance to see wildlife such as musk deer, pheasants, and Himalayan tahr. Tengboche is one of the most beautiful spots on the trek, offering amazing panoramic views of mountains including Everest (8,848.86m / 29,031ft), Ama Dablam (6,812 m / 22,349ft), Lhotse (8,516 m / 27,940ft), Nuptse (7,861 m / 25,791ft), and Thamserku (6,623 m / 21,680ft). Tengboche is home to one of the largest and most famous monasteries in the Khumbu region – Tengboche Monastery, also known as the “monastery on the hilltop.” This is a must-visit site. The day ends with the calming sounds of prayers and bells as we prepare for our next trek to Dingboche.

Max Altitude: 3,855 m/12,850 ftMeals: Breakfast, Lunch, and DinnerAccommodation: Tea House LodgeDuration: 5 hoursDistance: 9.2 km / 5.7 miles
Day 05:

We continue trekking toward Pangboche Village (3,985 m/13,074 ft), passing many stupas, mani walls, and charming Sherpa villages. The trail goes through lush alpine forests filled with seasonal rhododendrons. The forests gradually give way to shrubs as we ascend higher, and the terrain eventually becomes arid and desert-like, indicating the elevation gain. As you go, you'll pass through Pangboche, one of the oldest Sherpa communities in the area. There, you'll see mani walls, prayer flags, and chortens. During the trek, you have opportunities to spot local wildlife, including Himalayan tahr and musk deer.

The toughest part of the day starts after crossing the Lobuche River, with a steep climb up to Dingboche (4,360 m,/ 14,290 ft). Known as the “summer valley of Khumbu,” Dingboche is famous for its long stone walls built to protect crops from strong winds. The village offers stunning panoramic views of the surrounding peaks and valleys, making the climb well worth the effort.

Day 06:

Today is our second acclimatization day, which we will spend in Dingboche. Since we have gained a lot of altitude, it's important to give our bodies time to adjust to the thinner air. To help with acclimatization, we will stay active with a short hike. We will walk up the ridge above Dingboche to see breathtaking panoramic views of Lhotse, the back of Ama Dablam (6,812 m / 22,349 ft), Island Peak (6,189 m / 20,305 ft), Cho Oyu (8,150m / 26,750ft), and Makalu (8,516 m / 27,940 ft). We can also hike to Nagarjun Hill (5,091m/16,703ft). You will also be able to see the beautiful Himalayan peaks that encircle the Khumbu Khola Valley to the north.

Max Altitude: 5,091m / 16, 703ftMeals: Breakfast, Lunch, and DinnerAccommodation: Tea House LodgeDuration: 3 - 5 hoursDistance: 3.7 km / 5 miles
Day 07:

The trail to Lobuche (4,930 m) is full of stunning mountain views. It starts with a short uphill climb and leads to the steep terminal moraine of the Khumbu Glacier (4,900 m), passing large rocks moved by the glacier over time. As you go higher, trees and forests disappear, and the air becomes thinner and cooler. As we climb higher, the views of the surrounding peaks become even more dramatic. The path becomes steep before leveling out near Thukla, where we pass a memorial for climbers who lost their lives in the region. As you finally reach Lobuche, a small, cold village surrounded by snowy peaks, you’ll feel closer than ever to Everest. There is also a nearby high-altitude research station called the Everest Pyramid, shaped like a glass pyramid, where scientists study the effects of altitude and climate. Though the trek is tough, it’s one of the most breathtaking days of the journey.

Max Altitude: 4930 m/16175 ftMeals: Breakfast, Lunch, and DinnerAccommodation: Tea House LodgeDuration: 5 hoursDistance: 8.5km/ 7.45miles
Day 08:

We leave for Everest Base Camp (EBC) early in the morning. On the way, we passed by a few glaciers, including the well-known Khumbu Glacier, with constant views of ice ridges, rocky terrain, and distant snowy peaks. On the way, you pass Gorakshep, the last small settlement before Everest Base Camp, where you’ll stop to leave your backpack and rest briefly. From here, the hike to EBC continues over rocky moraine and icy trails. Along the way, you’ll see the Khumbu Icefall, one of the most dangerous parts of the Everest climbing route, with its towering blocks of ice and deep crevasses, as you can see the Army Mountaineers Memorial. Finally, after a few hours of trekking, you reach Everest Base Camp (5364 m/17598 ft), which is surrounded by massive white peaks and colorful prayer flags. After taking some photos and enjoying the moment, you return to Gorakshep (5,185 m / 17,010 ft) to rest and spend the night.

Day 09:

Early this morning, we have a short slog walk from Kala Patthar (5,545 m/18,208 ft) to Gorakshep. As we begin to rise over the Himalayas, you’ll witness one of the most breathtaking views in the world—a golden sunrise lighting up the summit of Mount Everest, along with surrounding peaks like Lhotse, Nuptse, Pumori, and Ama Dablam. Kala Patthar is where we spend about an hour. After that, we return to Gorakshep, have breakfast, and take some rest before trekking back to Lobuche for 2.5 hours. you’ll pass through familiar glacial landscapes, rocky paths, and wide-open valleys, surrounded once again by the towering white peaks of the Khumbu region. From Lobuche, we take a helicopter to Lukla; you will see a spectacular bird’s-eye view of the mountains, glaciers, Gokyo Valley and Gokyo Lake. Skipping the downhill walk and arriving fully rested.

(Please Note: The helicopter flight is weather-dependent. In case of poor visibility or bad weather, the flight may be delayed or rerouted. An extra payment may be required if the flight is rescheduled from another location or on a different day.)

Everest Base Camp Helicopter Package (10 Days) Information

Your Himalayan adventure begins with a warm welcome at Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA) in Kathmandu. A representative from our company will meet you at the airport with a traditional marigold garland, known as a Khada, and then drive you directly to your hotel destination.

One day before your trek, you must arrive in Kathmandu no later than 4 PM so that you have enough time to prepare. Because to the heavy air traffic during the months of March, April, May, September, October, and November, flights to Lukla may be redirected to Manthali Airport from Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA). In such a case, your walk will start at approximately 12:30 in the morning, when a guide will pick you up from your accommodation for the five-hour trip to Manthali Airport. After that, the flight to Lukla will only take about 20 minutes.

In off-peak months (December, January, February, June, July, and August), flights to Lukla that fly directly from Kathmandu will only take about 40 minutes to Lukla.

This package is the scenic helicopter flight from Lobuche to Lukla near the end of your trek. After visiting Kala Patthar, you’ll descend to Lobuche, where a helicopter will pick you up for an aerial journey back to Lukla.

(Note: The helicopter flight is weather dependent. In rare cases, if weather conditions do not allow for takeoff from lobuche, the flight may be rerouted to depart from Pangboche or pheriche instead. Any extra costs due to rescheduling may apply.)

(Note:

Budget package: Your flight is arranged from Kathmandu or Manthali to lukla, and helicopter transfers are shared with local people or fellow trekkers.

Standard package: Your flight to lukla will also be from Kathmandu or manthali, but helicopter rides are shared with guides and other trekkers.

Luxury package: You’ll travel to and from lukla by Helicopter.

Accommodation

This Everest Base Camp Helicopter Package includes a 9-day stay at a standard lodge and a 10-day hike. We can provide the best available lodges in the trekking areas. Not included in our plan are the two extra nights you'll need to spend in Kathmandu.

(Note:
Budget Package: You'll stay in local teahouses or lodges and share a room with other trekkers.
Standard Package: You’ll stay in standard teahouses or lodges, usually in a room with two people (twin sharing). Whenever possible, the rooms will have attached bathrooms.
Luxury Package: You’ll stay in private deluxe rooms with attached bathrooms in high-quality teahouses and lodges.

Meals

The helicopter package for the Everest base camp provides three standard meals throughout the trek. During the trek, the menu offers a mix of traditional Nepali, Asian, and Western dishes. To stay healthy and energized at higher altitudes, we suggest choosing light, fresh, and hydrating meals, such as seasonal vegetables, garlic soup, hot lemons, ginger tea, and green tea. One of the best local meals to try is the popular Dal Bhat Tarkari (lentil soup, rice, and vegetable curry), which provides long-lasting energy for trekking. While meals are varied, we strongly advise avoiding meat, alcohol, and caffeinated drinks at high altitudes, as they can affect digestion and hydration. Vegetarian and vegan options are widely available, and our team will help ensure your dietary needs are met throughout the journey.

(Note:
Budget package: This option does not include any meals or drinks, so you will need to pay for food separately.
Standard package: You will receive three meals a day (breakfast, lunch, and dinner) and a cup of tea or coffee with your meal with seasonal fruits at breakfast.
Luxury package: you will receive three meals a day (breakfast, lunch, and dinner) with seasonal fruits, dry fruits, and nuts at every meal. You can enjoy tea, coffee, juices, cold drinks, and mineral water anytime, except alcoholic drinks. All the extra costs, such as hot showers, phone charging, bed heaters, and internet, are fully covered.

Luggage

We will provide two trekkers for one porter during the trek. The total weight limit for the porter is 20 kg, which means each trekker has a 10 kg luggage allowance. Hence, team up with a fellow traveler and pack your things in a duffel bag of over sixty liters. We expect you to only carry a small personal backpack for your essentials, like a camera, water, snacks, and valuables. You can leave any extra bags at your hotel or at our Kathmandu office for free.

(Note:
Budget package: There are no porters, so you will need to carry your backpack and belongings throughout the trek.
Standard package: There will be one porter for every two trekkers, who carry up to 20 kg (10 kg per person).
Luxury package: Each trekker has their own personal porter, so you don’t need to carry anything.

Facilities and Essentials

Water

You can buy water bottles from shops along the trail or get boiled or filtered water at lodges. It is advised to bring a refillable water bottle and fill it with boiled water. A  Avoid drinking untreated tap, well, or river water. For safety, please use a water purifying tablet, or you can purchase one at the shops along the trail.

Travel Essentials

Visa

Except for citizens of India, all foreigners need a visa to enter. Kathmandu International Airport can provide visas for most nationalities upon arrival. One passport-sized photo, a password that is valid for at least six months, and 50 dollars (USD) to cover the visa price (for 30 days) are all necessities.

Travel insurance

This trek is easy in terms of hiking, but it takes place at high altitudes, so there is a small risk of altitude sickness and other hazards. Hence, travel insurance is required. YOur policy must cover medical expenses and emergency helicopter rescues up to 5,500 meters. We ask our clients to provide detailed insurance information within a week of booking. In an emergency, we will use your insurance details to arrange a quick evacuation and transfer to medical facilities.

Currency Exchange

The US dollar is equivalent to around 130 Nepali rupees (NPR), which is the currency of Nepal. In Kathmandu, you may find banks and authorized money exchange centers where you can exchange major foreign currencies.  ATMs are widely available to withdraw NPR, but extra service fees may apply. Make sure your notes are new and undamaged, as old or torn bills may be refused. Only the 100 INR note from India is legally accepted in Nepal. It’s best to exchange money in Kathmandu before heading to trekking regions, as exchange options in remote areas are limited.

Extra Expense

While our package covers most of your expenses during the trek, you will need to budget for some personal items like meals and accommodation in Kathmandu, visa fees, snacks, hot showers, personal equipment, tips for the crew, etc. We recommend you budget approximately $20 USD per day for these personal expenses during the trek.

Trek Season and Weather Conditions

The Everest region experiences different climates throughout the year. In spring (March-May), it is one of the most popular trekking seasons; temperatures at lower altitudes are 10°C to 20°C, and at higher altitudes -5 °C to 10°C. In Autumn (September–November), it is a popular trekking season, with clear skies and comfortable temperatures between 20°C and 5°C. In Summer (June-August), there is heavy rainfall below 3500m and a temperature range from 27°C to 5°C. Winter (December-February) is the coldest period, with temperatures ranging from 15°C to -15°C. In Summer (June-August), there is heavy rainfall below 3500m and a temperature range from 27°C to 5°C.

Typical day

Our days begin with a warm cup of tea or coffee, followed by a nutritious breakfast. When you get ready, you’ll start trekking around 7 a.m. After trekking for about 3–4 hours, you’ll stop for lunch at a teahouse along the route. The second leg of the trek usually lasts 2–3 hours. We'll walk at a comfortable pace, taking short breaks to rest, enjoy the scenery, and take photos. By late afternoon, you’ll reach your lodge or teahouse for the night.

Flight Delays

Flights between Kathmandu and Lukla depend on the weather and can sometimes be delayed or cancelled. If your flight is cancelled, a helicopter is a possible alternative. A helicopter flight usually costs between $500 to $1,000 USD per person; this price depends on weather and flight availability, and this price is based on a group of five people sharing the cost. To be safe, we highly recommend adding one or two extra days to your travel plans just in case there are any flight delays.

Tipping culture

A common way to say thank you for good service is to give a tip. You don't have to provide tips, but it's a good idea to do so at the end of the trek, and it's ideal to give them as a collective gift. The tip should be based on the service, travel time, and cost.
